coz when you only use a little bit of gel your hair is just spiky whereas when you use lots and lots of gel you also have that "just showered" look and people keep trying to wipe that dripped gel (that looks like water) off your forehead

there are many possible answers to this question depending on many factors, such as the way exactly you spike it, retro, punk, scruff etc i will ventue a few for you:
maybe you conform under social pressure?
maybe you rebell against conforming?
maybe you have a cows lick?
maybe you thouroughly enjoy a bad hair day?
maybe your hair loves it?
maybe you think its good, and maybe it is!

i have very thick hair, and also have to put lots of gel on it. (have no choice)
