He sounds depressed. Maybe he was dumped recently. Or, maybe he just learned a new word for the day, and wanted to use it in a sentence.

well he is either trying to start cheating with you. or he is not happy in his marriage but he must work that out him self do not get involved men say things all the time to suck women into a relationship while they are still married
