I drive to his place, i give him gas money to come to see me, i pay for groceries when i'm at his place, if we eat out i pay or the odd time he will give me half the money, i did everything for him, never asked for anything in return,, how can he say i'm controlling??

Yes, a little too much of controlled...however, you do love him so much due to your action.....I can certainly understand that!
(That was how me and my gf broke up because I was "controlling" too much(she mentioned to me during our last conversation).

do you have no self respect darling?...NEVER give a man everything like that...of course he will use you and then break up with you...he can't possibly feel like a man when you are right there to take care of him like his mommy...MAKE him be a man...stop taking care of him...let him take care of you...and YES...that is extremely controlling...you did those things to enable him to stay helpless so that you could be the one to make sure that everything got done...you tried to make him completely dependent on you...but evidently he does not want that...and i don't know ANY "REAL" MAN that would want that...you need to stop trying to run people's lives...don't fret too much...i am also a control freak...but i can admit it...and am working on it...you should really stop and take a look at yourself...FOR REAL

If he says your controlling you probably were. You just didnt realize it. A relationship is not about controll, its about caring and sacrifices. Even though he may not of tried to stop you for paying for food and things, a man wants to feel like a man and if you are doing EVERYTHING for him he might feel useless and like a kid. Sometimes Everything is too much.

He feels emasculated by you and your generosity. he feels like a disappointment and that he couldn't meet your needs.
At least he ended it, rather than treat you badly. Guys who do that are afraid to rise to the level of superiority they feel others are at, so it is easier for them to tear them down to the level thay they themselves feel they're at.
He needs to feel like the man, the provider, the protector, Your generosity reminds him that he has no money, car, and not much to offer.
If you do everything and ask for nothing, he secretly wants to tell you "JESUS called.....HE WANTS HIS CROSS BACK!"
He feels that there is no way he could meet your needs (if you never told them, he imagines that they're HUGE).
He just wants to feel some control and make a contribution so he doesn't feel like a loser.
It's not your fault, but don't kill your next relationship with too much kindness.....it takes their power away.

ummm bc you never gave him the chance to control his life. You sufficated him a little. Your intentions were good, u just wanted to do everything for him, but did you ever think that maybe he wanted to do some things for himself? or even for you?? you are a tad controlling but i will admitt that it seems you just wanna take care of him.. next relationship, let him come to you more and do for you half of the time.
