I went to the salon to make my hair dark coppery brown and i used to dye it black with the box dye products found in wal-mart, target, etc. So the hair stylist had to strip my color out and it came out like yellow/orange and she just went over it with semi-perminant black dye.
How long do i wait to dye it dark coppery brown with the professional hair dye from Sally's Beauty Supply?
It's been a week since i went to the salon and i really wanna do it now before school starts in a week.

I would condition it really good for a week or 2 (even sleep with conditioner in it) then dye it. Good luck!!

Sally's hair color is still not professional! Most of the dye they carry are still made by loreal ect. Your wanting a specific color, That color can not be created on your hair without a professional. If your hair has been stripped, the integrity is not good enough for a permanent color yet. Thats why the stylist did a temporary color. Deep condition the heck out of it then go back to a salon in a week or two. If you try to do it yourself, your asking for trouble!!! Good luck

Well if ur doing the box stuff I think u have to wait like 3-6 months otherwise you run the risk of OVER dying your hair leaving your hair lifeless, flat, no body, and no shine at all. I would consult with a salon before doing anything and make sure you tell them what you have had done last and when u dyed your hair last...otherwise if they or you over dye it your hair can fall out too...not cool

I have the same issues with my hair because I like to try new things. But honestly, you dont have to wait a certain amount of time. The box says that you should wait two weeks, but that time period is estimated simply for different types of hair. I have dyed my hair and then changed the color only a couple of days later and it is fine. It really depends on hair type, but if you know how to take care of your hair, and get regular cholesterol/protein treatments, then you should be fine. And you can get those treatments from sally's.

i dyed my hair auburn once and it turned out more purple than anything else...I washed my hair with Dawn dishsoap for 2 days and then dyed it back to blonde without any problems...the Dawn dishsoap helps to strip some of the current hair dye out.
