Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, ... (John 2:7-9)
Wine is used throughout both the Old and New Testaments. The first recorded miracle of Jesus was to turn water in wine at the wedding in Cana.
It is true that we should not become drunk but used in moderation, wine is a biblically acceptable beverage.
Go, eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart, because it is now that God favors your works. (Ecclesiastes 9:7)
What would Jesus do? Jesus would have a cup of wine with dinner.
If some people wish to totally forego alcohol to eliminate the temptation to over indulge, that's fine. But I don't think they should force that unbiblical teaching onto others.
With love in Christ. .

It depends solely on your personal opinion of such as being sin or not...Please don't let a literary piece be the dicatator of your choices...they are meant as tools not rules. However, alcohol is a substance that our human bodies were not meant to digest..it provides no true nutritional value...ergo, not something you want to put into it if healthfulness is an experience you want to produce for yourself...your choice, again.

The Bible has slowly worked towards eliminating alchohol, as it ultimately tampers with your brain, which is our biggest and most precious asset that distinguishes us from animals.
Just as drugs tamper with our brains, so does alchohol. People used to like it to relax and like the Lord often does, he slowly raises the conciousness of people so they begin to appreciate his intentions and begin to see the benefits of his laws.
Many people would not die, if everyone would voluntarily avoid drinkging and driving. How can you expect a person who is drunk to have the wisdom not to drive? One is really asking for the impossile when you ask someone to make that decision when their mental faculty is not properly functioning.
The Bible did not directly forbade drinking, but began to give indications that it is bad. Just as Abraham did not bring the Ten Commandments, but was beginning to teach justice and mecy to his people.

I don't know about the Bible, but I think sin depends on your mental motivations. If alcohol tends to turn your mental motivation negative, then it tends to be a 'sin' for you and should be avoided.
