My electronics teacher back in high school was a short obese woman and shockingly was in the marines only 2 years before teaching. How the hell did she survive basic training? She must have been hit alot with soap like gomer pyles in full metal jacket?

well I was a little over weight when I went in to the army, I came out lean and mean. now I am starting to get some of the fat back lol took me longer then her. she could also of had a kid, that seams to really rune a girls body and packs on alot of fat.

I have noticed something strange about the marines though, I have rarely met a in shape former marine, most of them I know are on the large side

First off there are weight requirements and if you don't meet them you don't go in. They will get the weight off you. If you can't do it on your own, they will put you in the hospital and control your diet completely. Active duty service does not mess around when it comes to weight issues.

back then if you were fat and couldn't do the drills, they put you in fat camp where they made you lose weight and helped you with the drills till you could do them. now you have to be in their weight limit and do the basic exercises or they will not let you join.

she probably wasnt fat when she went to basic. they do have a weight standard and if you do not pass it you do not go to basic. at least its that way in the Army. when you see fat soldiers it is because they gained the weight after they joined.

Drill sergeant will make you thin. Actually, it is my understanding that people who are excessively overweight are no longer accepted by the military.
