Has anyone had a small harline fracture in your tooth? I just discovered one on my left top tooth and I'm not sure what the dentist is gonna do about it! Anyone deal with one of these before?

edit: thanks for the anwsers guys, it's not very deep at all. I'm diabetic so I ran a syrigine along my tooth to see how long it was and how deep it was (bad idea, i know) but there was no pain, it went less than half way down my tooth, and wasn't deep at all.

Is there any pain or sensitivity? If not welcome to my world! Mine were created by pressure by the other teeth moving forward. (Your teeth do this all your life by the way. Move forward, I mean.)
Your dentist probably won't do anything! However you may want to start using a less abrasive toothpaste, and one for sensitive teeth. I use Sensodyne for whitening. It is expensive but it works well. GL and don't worry hon! I've had this problem for years!

I have a hairline crack right smack in themiddle of my central incisor. I hit a swimming pool with my tooth when I was about ten. I'm 55 and it looks just the same as it did when I was ten. I never had a moment of trouble with it. Sometimes you get lucky like that.

Yes, I had cracks in my teeth. I didn't even know until my dentist pointed them out. Never had them in front teeth, though. Just by looking at it you cannot determine how deep it is and how dangerous it is to the tooth. It can vary from "nothing to worry about" to "the tooth is actually broken in halvs" so the treatment can vary from doing nothing about it to having to put a crown on the tooth.

See your dentist and have an x-ray done. If it's not going to affect the nerve you may be able to forget it. If not you may need a crown.

No, teeth do not heal and grow the same way the rest of your bones do. You will need to see a dentist to get it take care of.

If it breaks off, the nerve will be bare and cause A LOT of pain. Go to the dentest, NOW!!!!
