Sin is a deliberate thought, word, deed, or omission contrary to the eternal law of God.
Without knowing more about your scenario, I would say that lying to save an innocent person's life would not be contrary to the eternal law of God and therefore not a sin.
With love in Christ.

Of course not. When was it ever a sin to lie when the result of that lie saves someones life?
You have a too simplistic view of religion and morals.

It is a case-by-case basis. It depends on where your heart is at the moment of the lie.
P.S. -- In response to the person who mentioned "the people who made the rules of sin"...people didn't make any rules of sin. People make laws and such, and people may create their own systems of ethics and morality that are not God-inspired, but sins against God are not human-created ideas.

First of all Satan is the father of the lie. He is the reason we do lie. Yes it not a good thing to lie for any reason. Its not really saving this person and easily becames a habit hard to break.

Lying is a sin - regardless of the outcome of it - whether good or bad.
Example:
If you robbed a bank to get instant money for a loved one to go through an expensive surgery, is that robbery still a crime?
Most definitely!
Hope this helps in your situation.

It is a sin to "bear false witness against your neighbor". That means unjustly accusing him of doing wrong.
