Mostly what every one else said. Also bargain shop like crazy. Try thrift stores they have all kinds of things. A great place to look in my area is freecycle.org or cheapcycle.org. People give away all sorts of things to keep it out of landfills.

You have to develop a plan, and stick to it.
Develop a budget that starts with your take-home income, and deducts your regular bills. Budget for food, gas, utilities, all the necessary things of life.
Take the remainder of your discretionary income and put a small portion every month into savings. It doesn't have to be a lot - even $25 / month adds up. Don't, don't, ever, ever give in and dip into that unless you're either buying what you planned to buy all that time ago when you started saving, or it's a dire emergency.
Kids can go without stuff. But building discipline with finances is something that can last a lifetime. And building this kind of self-discipline and self-control will help you in other areas of your life, as well as help your kids grow up more responsibly and appreciative of the things they have.

Girl, I have a one year-old and everyone thinks she is spoiled and that I buy her everything, but I don't spend a lot of money on her. Your kids can eat the same foods as you so that is a plu (no more formula to buy). Limit eating out (it is healthier anyway). When you buy there clothes, go to places like Old Navy, The Children's place, etc. and RACK UP during clearance time. I'm talking buy winter and spring stuff in the summer. By shoes in advance and coats when they are on clearance. You can get a lot of cute clothes. Hit th egarage sale for some toys that would be more expensive and have your own garage sale for the toy/clothes your kids can't use/wear.
Take your kids to the park or library (FREE activities). This can really be done!! Enjoy!!

Buy diapers in bulk at Sam's or Costco. You can also buy a lot of stuff in bulk. It may be expensive at first, but what you do buy will last a lot longer too. I don't where you're from but 99cent stores, Dollartree, Big Lots, Factory2U, and other discount stores actually have some nice stuff and good deals. You just have to look for it. Cut out coupons for grocery shopping. Also, get grandma and grandpa to buy the toys and fun stuff that aren't necessities. That should help!

I don't know it's so hard these days to save a penny especially when your kids are growing rapidly. The economy makes it tough for us to save for our futures, retirement . In my case I'll have to work until i die because social security won't be enough to live on when I'm old
