I decided once to drink a half-gallon of water in an hour or two just to see what would happen (this was when I was at work, not doing any exercise or anything.) That was an 8-oz glass of water every 10-15 minutes. It left me feeling a little dizzy and a little weak for a few hours. Probably not the best experiment to do.
Just don't drink too much. See these:

Yeah sure, there's no crime drinking 10 glasses of H2O a day. In fact, medical studies have ststed that much quantity of water is needed everyday for body and system metabolism. So baby gurl, I urge u to keep up the good work.

Too much can put a strain on your Kidneys etc, but also dilutes the salts etc in your body, and causes cells to be over hydrated, this is the "Drowning" part.
If you pass the water on a regular basis, exercises well, and eat a balanced diet, with all the right salts, minerals, and vitamin it should not be a problem.
Just make sure the odd one is Red Wine or Beer, both of which are good for you, and make the Water more fun.

Six to Eight 8 once glasses per day (24 hours). If you are exercising it should be more. Too much water, unless you are exercising is not good for you. You lose a lot of minerals and vitamins when you drink too much water and this could be dangerous to your health.

I don't think there's anything harmful about drinking a lot of water, especially if you work outside or exercise a lot and lose a lot of it to sweat. But, if you're drinking that much because you're always thirsty, I'd go to the doctor to make sure you don't have an underlying medical condition that's making you drink a lot. Your doctor can also tell you if excessive thirst could be a side effect of any medications you're taking.

Actually, there is such a thing as too much water. Too much water can actually deplete the body of potassium and cause you to have a heart attack. The term escapes me but I know it happened to a football player in Texas not too long ago.
There's also the problem of electrolyte balance, especially the sodium compounds.
Even worse, the excess water can cause an osmotic shift and result in cytolysis (cell death).
Don't drink too much water

1) Yes, there IS such a thing as drinking too much water in a day. All you people who said "no such thing" are ignorant.
2) You don't NEED to drink 8 glasses of water a day. You certainly don't need 1/2 your body weight (in oz.) per day. You don't need ANY arbitrary target amount per day. Drink when you're thirsty. Period!

i know that theres something involving being too hydrated, but i forgot the name of it. i was also watching like dateline or something the other day about a women who drank a LOT of water each day. the causes could have been hormonal imbalance, problems with her kidney, or stress. she was always thirsty, and it turned out that it was caused by a hormonal imbalance from an accident she had a long time ago. 10 glasses doesnt seem like too much water since everyone requires different amounts. but if you are concerned, i reccommend seeing your doctor to make sure you kidneys are working properly and everything alright.
