Remember that there is a key difference between a true prophet and others. A true Prophet (like Moses) turns his entire nation to follow him. Those who question or fight against him lose. The actions of a true prophet are so powerful, that they reverberate across the centuries and across continents, so that anyone with a little vision and an open mind can clearly see the handiwork of the Lord Almighty, as it is humanly impossible to replicate what such men do. Thus the Lord Almighty lays down his laws beyond any reasonable doubt whether a person is a TRUE PROPHET or not.
Remember that Mohammad wiped out completely the religion of his ancestors. Remember also that the Americans, Russians and now the Israelis are recognizing that it is not possible to force your views on any people. Remember also that many false Prophets have come and gone and some people always form a group around them.
But TRUE PROPHETS are certainly a class by themselves, that can neither be replicated nor any examples exist in the World.
THIS is a big challenge. Show me one person comparable to Mohammad who did the following:
1. Turned his entire nation in a mere twenty three years to follow him so completely that there was no opposition to challenge him at all, when he died. Most people can not even control or direct the actions of their own teens, including powerful men and women. Most people can not change the views of their own mother in laws.. =).
2. When he started out, he had neither the backing of any super power, nor was he supported by any members of his own tribe, except his wife who believed in him.
3. He wiped out the religion of his ancestors that had existed for centuries in a mere 23 years, to the point that no trace of that religion exists any more, except what remains in the Muslim books.
4. He did all this with minimal bloodshed. Less than 2700 people were killed on all sides in the years of battles which lasted about eight years.
5. He claimed and established a Book that has not changed over 1400 years, although it was translated, copied, carried forth into many nations who did not understand Arabic language.
6. He became the fountainhead of many empires.
7. He turned all of the arabs to the great ones of Israel, when the Arabs for centuries were the rivals of the Jewish people. Now a Muslim must bless every single Prophet of Israel if he takes their name. He did this without succumbing to the Jewish people who lived in his area, who joined ranks with his enemies who were very powerful Arabs.
Joseph Smith does not compare in any way to the Grand Prophet of God, who was sent to a region at the confluence of three continents, and whose message spread across the nations like a wild fire!!
I hope this answers your question.

Um, do you mean before any significant events had transpired in the lives of either one? Hmm, that is an interesting question. I can think of how polygamy in Iraq (see link below) and polygamy in Utah have differences. The concept of polygamy in Arab countries is different from the concept of polygamy in 19th Century America - which was a temporary principle that ended in 1890. I believe after studying this quite a while that the limited practice of polygamy in 19th Century America was, by and large, more of a response to the future and ongoing deaths of so many men who would have possibly been strong Church leaders, due to the Civil War. I base this on hearing how at least two women in Utah around the 1870s or so decided they didn't want to be in polygamy anymore and married soldiers who had come through Utah later on. I am not sure what other differences there would be. If you happen to be referring to fundamentalist type groups still practicing polygamy in southern Utah and Arizona, they are no longer part of the official Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The standard law of the Lord is one man, one wife.

Mohammed was just a man. I guess he was a good man,but still just a man. Joseph Smith was not a good man. He did not write the book of Mormon, but copied it from a book written by someone else. He and his brother Hiram were killed for messing around other men's wives. Now,what kind of man is that to follow. If you want to know more, write me.

There is no comparison. Mohamed is a great prophet. You should read more. Joseph Smith whoever he is, is just a man who wanted to creat his own version of christianity i think, don't know much about him, cuz he is no body in my opinion.

it particularly is surprising! Joesph Smith is an rather generic historic parent; the founding father of Mormonism, that's first prophet. this does not recommend you will desire to alter into Mormon, despite if that's a desirable ancestry connection. The Mormons are solid human beings, very kin based. lots of the international's Christians would evaluate them non-Christians for being unorthodox in theology. in spite of the actual undeniable fact that even I as a Roman Catholic understand them, solid those with an rather interesting tale. have exciting with it, do slightly study!!

Messed up, It was bad enough that Joe got the word from a talking hat, who knows what a talking turban would say, the many wives thing would likely not have changed.

Wouldn't it be better if they worked as a team ? Joe knew how to get the women, and Mo got them right out of the cradle.
Why have sixty year olds, when you can have a whole herd of nine year olds ?
