IF you choose to sell it on Ebay..make sure you have a reserve...
But if you don't want to leave the sale price up to chance at an online auction than go to partypop.com at this website they have forums where brides can list their dresses....it gets a lot of hits and there are always TONS of postings about girls searching for dresses. All you have to do is post a message, and include a photo if you have one...and list the selling price. On Ebay you are only going to be able to get a couple hundrerd dollars for a dress that retailed at $1000, whereas on partypop...a lot of the $1200 dresses go for as much as $700 and more if they haven't been worn.....good luck!!
here is the link
http://www.partypop.com/Forums/Wedding_Dresses/
when you get to the site you can browse the dress wanted posts and see if anyone is searching for that paticular dress or you can "post a new message" about your dress

i have a freind who is married but she and her husband did not have the wedding that they wanted :(
if you let me see some information and or pictures about this dress she may be intrested in buying from you :D she has told me she does not want to spend a lot of money on a brand new dress that she is only going to use once - she would rather have one that has been used before and can be used again believe me
you can contact me by emailing me ( my name is kristy ) at pink_karistakat@yahoo.com
if you want to send me an instant message you can do so at pink_karistakat on yahoo and pinklittlekitten@hotmail.com on msn :D

Ebay, with a reserve for the minimum amount she would take.
Consignent shop, ad in local newspaper
Tell people you know that you are selling it. Word will get around, especially in a small town like I live in!!
:)

If you don't want to do eBay, try a local consignment store. You might get more money out of it that way too. Just look in the Yellow pages under "consignment stores"
