How long does it take for them to come up? They are perfectly normal looking teeth. I can see one of them breaking through my gum, but its taking so long to come up. They started coming up lastnight. The pain is just horrible.
Now I know how 1 year olds feel.

Additional Details

I am 25 by the way they started coming up when I was 17 then stopped. So I am surprised to see them breaking through my gum.

I have 4 wisdom teeth on the surface, not inmpacted. They all took different time lenght to come out. None of them hurt beyond slight discomfort though. You might want to find out if they are not healthy already, sometimes it happens.

My first wisdom tooth started pushing through the gum back in the spring of 2003. I'll be 25 in October and I just had 3 of the 4 wisdom teeth pulled out this past Wednesday (August 2). I still have one wisdom tooth that hasn't come through yet and the dentist said he was going to leave that one alone...at least until it started to cause problems which may or may not happen.

I would go ahead and see if you can get them taken out. They gave me some valium, gas (over my nose of course), and some shots in the gum around the teeth that were going to be taken out. I was given some penicillen and some pain reliver. The pain reliever made me extremely drowsy and sleepy but I had some of the best sleep....the best that I'd had in a very long time. The top two wisdom teeth didn't bother me it was just the one that was on the bottom. It was rather difficult for the dentist to get out of my mouth (my mouth is small and the tooth was coming in sideways).

Anyway, if you work and you decide to get the wisdom teeth taken out make sure that you have plenty of time off.

If you could see your wisdom teeth when you were 17 and they just now showed some movement, I hope you can get an x-ray taken to see if they are leaning against the adjacent tooth or if they are growing in the right direction. I'd bet they are not growing straight or they would have been in a few months after you first saw them.

I don't know how long it will take for all your wisdom teeth to come in, but I do know they hurt so bad it will have you crying. Mine started coming in at 15yrs old they really didn't start bothering now that I'm in my 20's and had to get them pulled out. Because they where pushing on my other teeth so I had to get them removed because it would of mess up the lining of my teeth. So unless they hurt very very bad get them take in' out. Don't need to be in pain.

See if you can get them all taken out. It's much easier. If they're removed then you won't have to worry about them crowding into your other teeth.
