Whaterever power converter I use in Europe for American electronics it still doesn't work same well as in US. For example ZOOM Adsl modem works perfectly in US under 9V AC/DC 800mA adapter but only works in Europe under the 9V AC/DC 1A and more.

On the whole, I think American power is better than European power in stability and suchlike.

The minimum tech specs that are permitted in the EU are much stricter in standard than those of America, however I think the actual power supplied in America is far above min standards in either the US or EU.

UK power quality is particularly appalling.

No. Neither of them is "better," "technically" or otherwise.

I have no idea, though, why you are experiencing the problem with your adapters, sorry.
