first of all, puppies potty EVERYWHERE, especially in unfamiliar territory (aka your bed, couch, etc) because they're trying to mark that space as their own. male dogs are especially good at this, even as a puppy.

what you need to do is let the puppy know where HIS own space is. you need to fence off an area that's just for him: include a bed/pillow, water dish, food bowl and a wee wee pad. do not let him out of this area until he knows that he needs to potty on the pad. even after he knows where to potty, let him out for short periods of time to play (supervise him VERY carefully), and if he pees anywhere else but the pad, put him back onto the pad inside his little area.

some other tricks are to put him on his pad after he drinks water or eats. don't change the pad after he pees on it ; the smell will remind him that he needs to potty there. also, don't let him come out to play until he goes potty on the pad. puppies need to pee every couple hours (2-4), so don't expect him to hold it the entire time he's out playing.

Take him or her out every two hours. Praise when the deed is done outside. Do not punish if the deed is done inside. Dogs can't relate to what you're doing them.

Taken out frequently, there will be no accidents inside. Soon, puppy will be able to hold her/his pee and poo longer and longer. Dogs thrive on positive reenforcement, which is the quickest way to potty train them.

When they are little, they are eating a lot and so they have to go a lot. Just have patience for a few weeks, and then it will be ok for the rest of your dog's life.

Don't use puppy pads or newspaper. It teaches the dog that it's OK to pee in the house. Take it outside frequently & give it a special treat & lovin' when it does it's business.
It's not quick or easy, so don't get frustrated. Good luck!

take him/her out after he eats. when he goes outside and does his "business" give him lots of praise immediately but ignore him when he goes inside. puppy pads are helpful and if he uses them, slowly move it closer to the door then outside. it just takes time and consistency. also always take him out after he wakes up as they always have a full bladder.

good luck!!!1
