A more accurate translation of the Mayan calendar, and legend, says that the world will 'end', "as we know it". I could mean that we move to a spiritually higher plane, where our collective consciousness gets the message that we are spirits in a material world.
Unfortunately most of us still think in terms of physical and material changes, which can be a basis of most of the fears that beset humankind. I choose to hold a positive thought about 2012. It may mean that world cultures drop all their reasons for their petty squabbling, and true peace will reign.

The Mayan Calender expires on December 21, 2012. And I guess Archealogists and historians have found new bible codes that predict the year 2012.
