I have this Bibile that I found in my room. I think it used to be my moms. I have no intentions on reading it. Should I give it back to my mom.

Whatever you like, there is nothing wrong with an atheist owning a bible... i have 2 copies of the new testament in my possession... both of them given to me by street preachers. I found them quite handy references until i found the skeptics annotated bible and blue letter bible on-line.

The bible is a book just like any other book written by people just like you and me, people who put on their pants one leg at a time. Read it as you would any other book, especially like books of fairy tales, such as Alice in Wonderland, Disney Stuff, etc. Don't take it so seriously and give it any credence that it does not have. No, it is not weird to be an atheist and own a bible. It is perfectly normal. Better yet get the Quran, Bhagvad Git and whatever else and you will see how humans think alike when they think about god and religion.

I'm an atheist and own several Bibles as well as books on the apocrypha and the history of early Christianity. I've read them also. In fact, I would say that most atheists have a better knowledge of the Bible than most Christians do. That's one reason they are atheists.

Gosh,no it isn't weird, I have several, and I read them, It really is a good read if you take out the spiritual stuff. Some good science fiction, a few good war stories, travel guides, and life lessons in there too. Plus it has the added benefit of being able to rationally question the Chrisitans, because they really hate it when you feed them from their own spoon.

But if you think giving it back to your mom is the thing to do, go right ahead.

No - don't define yourself so rigidly. Identity/ego is the root cause of our problems. Forget the 'atheist' label -- don't let any label come into your mind; it restricts your choices. Be open to every situation and allow whatever happens to happen. If the bible is there, no need to make it overly special to your ego by avoiding it or by not reading it because it doesn't sync with the label you've chosen. Otherwise, you become a 'fundamentalist', the same as those who have fundamentalist beliefs in religion.

No it is not weird.. I'm an atheist and I have many bibles because I am the family historian and all the bibles have genealogical family data (oldest I have is from the late 1700's). If having it makes no difference or brings you discomfort then give it to your mother and if not put it on the shelf with other books and there you have it.

Read it. I am an Atheist and I have read the bible twice. Just because you don't believe does not mean you can't be educated. I found many stories in the bible to be very interesting.

Yes>>> give it back. Atheists are not supposed to read the bible!!!
That is like someone believing the Beatles never existed, but they own 20 of their records.

Atheism should be declared a mental disorder.

I'm an atheist and I think I own about 5 bibles (mostly because I use to be a Christian). If it's your mom's, you should give it back to her. But, if she knows you are an atheist and she is a Christian...don't be surprised if you try to give it back and she says she left it in your room on purpose.

Isn't weird. Your soul is full with the things of this material world,i think you are young. But The Bible is the most read book on the earth,if you are an intellectual, you must read it once.God will open your heart one day. God Bless you and your mother.

That's not wierd.
I'm an atheist and I have two.
One is just a copy some christian gave me and the other is our old family bible. Big heavy thing printed in the 1800's.
They're fun to drag out and dust off when you want to read contradictory passages to self-riteous zealots that come to your door...
