Amusing answer: Skeeters are the result of an experiment gone wrong and God had to put the boogers somewhere. Who knows. Maybe earth is hell and skeeters are demons. No-one said how big Satan and his followers were ^.^ . The good thing is that we can fight back. It's just a pain when they fill up and you slap 'em. Demon guts all over your arm. Good thing Raid is a cleaner alternative.
Serious answer: God's gotta torture someone ^.^ . In all honesty, skeeters are just opportunistic feeders. They evolved to feed off of one of the most abundant foods out there: Blood. The good news is that many organisms have evolved to include mosquitoes in their diet, such as dragon flies, bats, birds and human have developed fun games to destroy the little buggers!
'Scuze me while I squish another six legged vampire...

They are a part of the food chain. The Birds eat them. We could also ask how do religous types explain the existence of humans, since we seem to do a stellar job at harming the earth and don't provide much benefit for the animal kingdom at large. Mosquitoes are parasites in our view, but what are we in the view of all other living things?

Actually God did not create mosquitos. Mosquitos are vampires in larval form. After a certain time period (23 hrs., 4min., and 59 secs. to be exact) They emerge from cocoons as lawyers and live for approximately 100 years (or it would seem) when they finally evolve into vampires or the homonus nocturne.

Oh yes! God didn't actually put them there silly! Dah! this is the easiest answer! They were put here by Satan! Everyone knows Satan is a real blood sucker, and really annoying too! Satan is the cause of most pests and parasites. Good bacteria and helpful or amusing and tasty animals are put here by God. You see, there is not only a spiritual war going on between God and Satan, but there is a physical one as well!!

Why have the whole process of predator and prey, where there's obvious suffering? Why have people born with debilitating disease, birth defects, with mental disorders? What friggin purpose does it serve to have phorid flies cause excruciating fear and pain in red ants? Why does cancer exist?
It's why the theologies that point to this world/universe not having anything to do with god (where complete lack of form, energy, dualism, etc is both our and god's nature) are more appealing to me. To associate Uncondtional Love with the creation of bodies and inviduals that need to take life to support their own and that suffer so much only to end in non-existence makes no sense...

If you read Genesis after Adam fell, you will see that God put a curse on the earth. Besides, when Adam did fall he no longer belong to God, now he made a new covenant with you know who. I guess you call us Religious types witch is fine, but you did ask.

Great question!
God IS responsible for mosquitoes; they did not evolve. Maybe he created them so that some scientist types could get jobs doing research on how to get rid of them!
Just a guess.

If I was religious I'd say God had a cruel sense of humor, judging from the bites my girlfriend frequently gets yet I somehow avoid.

When mosquitos were first created, they did not suck blood. They probably drank plant juice. After the Fall was when mosquitos started sucking blood and other animals turned into carnivores.

I don't know why God decided to create mosquitoes. But, they certainly seem to be part of the curse that came about when Adam sinned!
