When my son was a baby, I was in a local Drugstore picking up his prescription for antibiotics because he was sick and I started talking to the girl behind the counter who (Assumed by appearance alone I did not ask) that she was either middle eastern or Indian. Well, she was very nice and friendly and kind and right before I left. She took a pen and put three dots on my son's arm like a little triangle and then said a prayer to "Bless" him as she said. She also said "This is a blessing in my country and your son will always be protected." What does this mean? From this, can anyone tell me what the blessing is/means and what culture/religion/country it is from?
P.S. Yes I did get angry and I did say something, it but it happened so fast... I couldn't stop her. This happened 7 years ago almost and he does seem to be a "blessed" child!

Ummm for everyone asking "Why would you get angry?" I guess you don't have kids? How would you feel if some stranger touched your kid, or you without your permission first? It is kind of rude although a nice gesture, still rude!
and for the guy who thinks it's a better idea for me to take him to a priest... What are you JOKING? Think about it man...

I dont know, and she is rude. I'm Asian, and if she did that to my son, I'd slap her ... er, wrist, ... right away. In Asia, people LOOK DOWN on such behavior. She is just being quaint as you are not her ethnicity
(read: foreigner/westerner).

I agree that since you do not know what this meant that you should get people you trust to pray about it. Some 'blessings' seem good on the surface but have some hidden 'catches' that you may not want for your child.

I don't know what they believe but I think that people can bless as well as curse. It may have been a symbol of her faith like how in church they use oil to anoint someone when they pray over a person.

Why would you quarrel with a blessing? Your son isn't in any danger, he can't worship accidentally any more than you can. That takes work and thought and devotion, it is not accidental.
Still, blessings are for counting, not questioning.

Although her actions were a rude her intentions were good. She's wishing him the best, that's all a blessing is. Can't hurt.

Why would you get angry?! This person is doing something that they perceive as helpful for your child. Are you so biased that you think that anything outside of your own belief system is evil or harmful?

If you are of The Christian Faith you need to go to your church and tell the leadership of this... your son should be prayed over and this spell removed... this is not something to be taken lightly... I do not know what to tell you if you are not of The Faith... except that all who come to God in The Way He proscribes will be saved...

It was a gesture that had meaning to her. What you believe, how you live your life and what you teach your son in the mean time will have the greatest impact on him.
