If that is the case - then you would have to explain why so many churces, Christian churches at least, are dominated by women, and why so many men are absent.
If religion serves as a tool for men to controll women, how is it that men can do it without being involved?
Go to a church some time - and look around at how many women are there - and compare that with how many men are there.
What is more likley is that religion is a tool for women to controll men.

Religion was not invented to control women, but it does control society. It is used though, as a tool to control women, but it was not invented for that purpose.

I don't think so, there are plenty of religions that believe that the woman is a vital part of society including real muslims. I believe only ignorant, non readers truly think women are controlled by religion. As for me, I believe in the God, the great spirit. I believe God made us in the form of God's image and that is both men and women. I do think there are both women and men who don't understand that although in many ways alike, our brains truly are different and studies have been factored into my statement. Look for a special on 20/20 later this summer proving my statement with much research.

Only partially. Religion has been historically, the means by which one man or group of men have tried to control the lives of their fellow man and woman. Religion uses fear as its main element of control. There is very little difference between the various modern religions in this effort to control the populace but, if you study them seriously, you can find that there is one Teaching about GOD that lifts man and woman above the fear control element. Where do you even come up with a statement like that. Religion is the belief of something bigger. Some people use it to there advantage but will be judged for that later. If your refering to words used like submissive then you accually have to look at the hebrew and greek translation. Submissive accually means to follow. In order to have someone follow you you have to show them respect and have them believe in you. You can't make someone follow you truly by force.

"Religion" has taken many forms throughout the years, controlling other people was one of them. Faith in God is another matter, having an active, personal relationship with God was established by God Himself and taking on the character of Jesus is true Christianity.
