I wouldn't recommend it it. I hate microwaves above the stove because I am not tall enough to see what's going on in there. For example if I am reheating spaghetti sauce I can't tell if it is bubbling until it has splattered all over in the microwave. But with popcorn I can tell. At a resturant I worked in we had a broiler that was above the stove and I constantly burned myself. I would say that an oven above the stove is a hazard. If you want one that is not below the stove then I would suggest a wall oven. Right now I am remodeling the kitchen and replacing my stove/oven with a counter cooktop and wall mounted double oven. I might lose a little counter space but where it is going I never used that part of the counter. But I am gaining double the storage below the stove top.

Some have microwaves or conventions ovens above the cooktop. Of course, there is no reason you couldn't install a regular oven there also. The biggest drawback of any above the cooktop oven is being tall enough to safely remove hot foods. In my case - not!

You can get a microwave with a built in fan and convection. Personally I would love a wall oven, but I don't think you'd have room for one without loosing your stove top space.
Our house came with a micro/vent built in. If it was up to me, I'd have a toaster oven instead of the microwave...I rarely use the microwave and I'm so old school, I worry about the safety of standing beneath an operating microwave while I cook the rest of the food. But maybe that's just me.

I've got a microwave above mine. An oven would work as well, but I'd worry about the safety of it being right there.
