hasnt everone done something stupid when they were drunk?

First of all i would like to point out one thing. If Mel Gibson said racist remarks directed towards blacks, latinos, asians, indians, etc, it would not be getting the press it has been getiing. Public figures that are caught uttering racist slures to one or more of these types of people, usually makes an apology and then the story goes away.

I think that there is a double standard here. Its like, if you are racist towards a non jew then it is ugly, but acceptable as part of a free speaking, democratic society, but if you say something negative against the jews, its like the media wants to lynch you and through you in jail. This just goes to show you who runs the media!

Secondly what Mel Gibson said is NOT Anti-Semtic, it was Anti-Jew, there is a diference. Semites are people of both Hebrew and Arab desent. A semite is one who speaks Hebrew or speaks Arabic. A semite is one who follow the religion of the Hebrews (jew) or one who follows the religion of the Arabs (Islam). Look up the word SEMITE in any dictionary and you will se this definition.

I think it is time that we seperate hatred for the jews from Anti-semite becuase the word semite covers more than just mere jews. a true anti-semite is one who hates both the hebrews and the arabs, hates the jewish faith and the islamic faith

I believe Mel Gibson has shown throughout his life that He cares for Jews & Israel. I believe others have accused him of being anti-semitic or tried to convince him to be anti-semitic. He was stupid, got drunk & said things he is ashamed of.

He apologized. He did all he can do to amend. That proves to me he is a christian. I still love him.

Mel is very clever.
He got quite a lot of publicity from those silly bigots accusing him of being "anti-semitic".
We love him for both being drunk and heavenly apologizing.

I don't give a rats behind whether Mel is an anti-Semite or not. There are bigger fish to fry in this world.

I believe that Mel was quite drunk & said some things that really set people off but that is the nature of the beast (booze) which equals absolute stupidity!

He's the one who yelled out anti-semitic remarks. People tend to show their true selves when drunk...so I'm going with yes on this one.

Everyone has private thoughts in which we do not share with others for various reasons. We keep them under lock and key with our conscious mind which when it is unimpeded is very strong. However, alcohol is known to make one far less inhibited and makes ones judgment suspect. When in that state a persons most private thoughts cannot be protected and they may come out.

I think he's a man with a problem. I don't know if he really feels that way about Jews. It could have just been the alcohol talking, or maybe the alcohol brought out how he really felt, but he apologized, and should be forgiven.

Why do you care about what happens to a rich anti-semetic holocaust denying celebrity?

Oh the question answers itself doesn't it?
