My boyfriend of 10 months broke up with me as he has many family problems, but he keeps kissing me and telling me that he loves me...does he? Would he truely do this to me and to himself if he did love me?

Examples of problems:
His Mum tried to commit sucide for the £rd time last week.
His parents have been officially seperated for the past 12 years but still live in the same house and have slept in different bedrooms for the past 15 years...
Is he trying to protect me?
He's lost and confused, will he come back to me?

Sounds to me like he just needs space as hes got a lot to deal with. Be there for him and see what happens. Give him a few weeks and then see how things are - if they are still the same tell him how you feel and see how he reacts. I guess the only way you will know for sure is if it you put him on the spot but now it not the right time as he may give you a knee jerk reaction and lash out at you. They say you hurt the one you love.

Men do the funniest of things, but i think that he could possibly be protecting you from his family life... it could be that he feels that he is liking u too much, and doesn't want to have the same problems as his parents... (i dont know if he has had previous relationships)

In a word, yeah i think he love's u, in his own little way.. it is up to you to try and talk him round, reassure him, and most importantly tell him how u feel, the truth will then show itself. just dont panic, and make things difficult, be there for him.

Do you love him??

i hope things go well, and that u get what u want out of this

Sweetie this boy needs someone stable in his life right now, is that you?

Don't worry if he is protecting you or if he really loves you, that is not the issue. He needs you, someone he can go to when he hurts and feels lonely and scared.

Drop the boyfriend thing for now and concentrate on the *person*.
Be there for him, be his friend.

this boy needs tender care be patient with him don't try and mother him but dont try and leave him to his own decisions either, he and you cannot take on this trial of his parents separation and attempted suicide suggest that he may like to talk to a councillor to unburden his worries about his parents be there for him if you love him like i think you do then he will need a helliful lot of patience and time keep in touch and good luck

ok dont bother him right now just be a good friend and help him out in situations if you love him back. he needs someone who he can depend on right now. so just be a good friend and maybe just maybe he will see that u have a good heart and that u care for him and he might ask u back out. best of luck!!!!

If the case is that he doesn't want you to get involved than he she really step away unless he's just you using family issues as an excuse and is just using you. good luck

He is keeping you around as a backup in case whoever he is currently trying to get with (and yes dear, he is) shoots him down. If he is in such bad straits, he would cling to you for support. "Confused" is man talk for "Keeping you around, but looking for something better".

give him space and if he has broken up with you...don't let him kiss you, etc. you have to set boundries as it looks as if he hasn't much experience of this in his past. you need to worry about you and just be his friend. if he can't let go, for your sake...he may just be toying with you.
