This is my new idea. Nobody is a US citizen just because they are born here. Citizenship right have to be earned. People who fail to make a meaningful contribution get to find someplace else to live, leaving room for people willing to contribute to enjoy the awesome American way of life. Just an idea -what do you think - we get rid of the "dead wood" and at the same time - we get some new blood.

I obviously haven't worked out ALL the details yet. As far as my OWN contribution to America - I served in the navy for 8 years, I volunteer with big brothers/big sisters, and help the Salvation Army at christmas time. But my point here isn't to brag - it's to put forth an idea.

to answer the questions that popped up - new blood would come from the thousands trying to immigrate. I don't know where to send the dead wood - maybe we could have an exchange program with Mexico - they owe us.

I am definitely NOT pro illegal - and I am not hispanic either, my ancestors came from Ireland and Scotland. People were saying the same crap about the Irish a hundred years ago.

1. How does this give us new blood?
2. Who gets to decide whether someone has earned citizenship? For example, J. Edgar Hoover (head of the FBI for decades) would never have allowed Martin Luther King to become a citizen, under your idea.
3. Wouldn't this idea (basically a form of fascism) change our awesome way of life to something a lot less awesome?
4. When is the deadline for earning citizenship? Can you buy it, the way people used to buy their way out of military service? If you lose it, how can you re-earn it?
5. Where do we put folks who don't make it? What country would agree to take them?
6. What if I become a judge and decide that your idea is sufficiently anti-American to kick you out of the country? I wouldn't, because I'm not afraid of ideas I disagree with. But maybe someone else would.
Peace.

Birth right citizenship under the14th amendment will soon be challenged in the Supreme Court as it is a myth perpetuated by years of abuse and an immigration system gone wrong. The new law excluding birth right citizenship will only apply to those born to other than US citizens.

I have a few problems with your idea.
Who gets to decide if you are making a contribution to society?
Are we going to vote on a board of judges?
Where are we sending the "dead wood"?
Where are we going to get the new blood from?
If someone becomes too ill to work, do they loose their Citizenship?
What if a poor family starts having too many children? Do they get sent off somewhere too?
Just a few questions about your new policy.

It won't work. International peace demands that there not be so many 'stateless' persons. And who would determine a meaningful contribution? And what about those to young to rate? The biggest economic impact is on schools.
Even ignoring the fact that we built and own this country and pay for its services, so we make the rules, your plan wouldn't work.

do away with the section allowing the police to offer up and seek human beings in basic terms consistent with a suspicion approximately their immigration. shop each thing else. Edit - I quote from the regulation itself - "the place actual looking SUSPICION EXISTS THAT the guy IS AN ALIEN who's UNLAWFULLY modern contained in america, a actual looking attempt would be MADE, whilst achieveable, to confirm THE IMMIGRATION prestige OF the guy. the guy'S IMMIGRATION prestige would be shown WITH the federal government PURSUANT to eight usa CODE section 1373(c)." How else, yet with the aid of supply up and seek?
