I think that you may have been on the right track with Atkins. Maybe you were being too strict or you just did not stay with it long enough to learn healthier eating habits.
Low Carb cured me of constant hunger. I went over 40 years with the constant cravings that you describe. They are gone now.
I started Atkins about three years ago. I put my whole family on the plan. We threw out all of the refined carbs in the house(sugar, white flour, pasta, etc.) I learned to cook things like mashed cauliflower rather than mashed potatoes. It sounds awful, but you really would never know the difference if someone did not tell you.
I quickly lost 65 pounds. The weight-loss was just a bonus. The reason that I kept going was that I just felt so much better while eating low carb.
For the first time in my life, the cravings were gone. Completely gone. I could recognize the difference between real hunger and emotional hunger.
Here we are more than three years later. We still eat totally sugar free. There are so many good sugar substitutes out there now that it's easy. We can get almost any candy bar in a sugar free version and they taste just like the real thing.
We do eat low carb breads now. Dreamfield's Pasta, too. Dreamfield's tastes just like real pasta, but it's coated with something that keeps you from absorbing the carbs.
You don't have to be super strict with Low Carb. It's helpful to be sort of strict for a couple of months until you learn what foods trigger hunger in you.
I know that if I eat too many refined carbs or get into something with sugar, the cravings will come back in an hour or so. I'm not perfect with my diet, but at least I now know how to recognize the foods that trigger cravings. I can see them for what they are and I know to eat protien when they come on. Protein will cure the hunger quickly. High fat foods will cure the cravings the quickest.
I have found the solution for me. I hope that you are able to find one that will help you. I would suggest that you lower your intake of refineded carbs and that you eat a snack high in protein when you get cravings. They will go away quickly. Best wishes.

Hella fast digestion, maybe? How old are you? A lot of people under like 16 have appetites like that. Are eating enough fiber? Fiber is filling, not protein. Eat some whole wheat pasta w/ spaghetti sauce or something and see how long that lasts before you're hungry again. Man, I wish I had your digestion. haha. I eat every few hours, but I'm not always hungry, bad habit.

haha i'm the same way! you have an INCREDIBLY fast metabolism like i do. i'll eat like a steak, baked potatoes, and fries, and an hour later i'll go to the kitchen and be like hmmm popcorn sounds good right now. nothing's wrong with you, i tried eating healthy foods and that made me even MORE hungry! the best part is that i dont gain a pound, if you do though just exercise, don't worry about not eating as much.

It probably just means your stomach has a tendancy to feel like its empty. When you eat more then your body can hold, it asks for more food and gets use to it. So try not to eat and just treat yourself with a little exercise that you like and maybe you can get your mind out of eating a lot .

Maybe this will work, I don't know, it's worked for me all my friends though. We were always hungry when it came to eating right so we started eating these protein bars. Any kind will do. They aren't exactly the most delicous thing in the world but they fill you up and their good for you.

this hunger is more to fill an emotional void in your life. do some self introspection to find out what is missing in your life. often food is used to soothe our emotions when we are tense, lonely, bored, angry, helpless and so on. when u r hungry try to do something else - take a walk, treat urself to a long bubble bath, talk to friends on the phone, buy urself something special, anything which will draw ur mind away from the hunger
