why blame everything on illegals?
I keep on hearing that illegals drain the welfare system, education, and take advantage of free medical programs. I've also heard that the economy is dropping because of illegals.

-Where I live, there are many hispanic immigrants, but not one have I see get free welfare, medical programs. When they arrive, they get to work and start earning a living.. Some can't pay taxes, but they also don't recieve tax incomes.
-Hispanics or illegal mexicans aren't the only ones who use Welfare.. In southern california, the majority on welfare are African-Americans. Don't forget that there are also caucasian and Asians on welfare too... People now believe that it's only illegal mexicans who get a free-ride from American taxpayers.
-I also hear ppl saying that all their tax dollars go to illegals.. WRONG!!!!!!!! last time I checked, AMERICA IS IN WAR.....
You better believe that the majority of your money goes for war effort. I'm tired of hearing myths. rU?

I heard that the illegals are responsible for the ID theft plaguing the country, which I know isn't true. people don't want Mexicans here, it's making the whites a minority in "their own" (stolen) country. that is the real issue. illegals are illegal, and they broke the law, yes. but they are not the reason for the entire problems of the U.S. they are just easy scapegoats for everything. and yes I am tired of it. if it was easier to come here legally (and if you are poor you can't come at all) people wouldn't be illegal anyway.

Granted the effects of illegal immigration on our healthcare, welfare, education, and other social services, is highly debatable, though I think most won’t deny that those who are here without papers, contribute significantly to the burdening of our system. Just to what extent they share in that exploitation with whites, blacks and other groups is up for discussion.

I think the main reason many people, including myself, have a problem with illegal immigration is that it seeks to undermine the fairness of this country. In order for the legal system to be taken seriously, it must apply and enforce its laws evenly. There are numerous rules on the books right now concerning immigration that are not being enforced, and every time an illegal alien is allowed into this country and allowed to take advantage of our social services, he is violating the law. Yet I, a son of immigrant parents, who came here through a lengthy legal procedure; if I were caught speeding or committing any minor infraction of the law, I would be forced to pay the consequences. Yet illegal immigrants, for the most part slide right on by our own rules.

It’s this fundamental inequality, where those who abide by the rules get penalized, and those who don’t follow the rules get off free, that has led to much of the rancor that is in this country.

And you do NOT see the truth in that statement?? No one is blaming all the problems on the illegals, BUT they do cause problems!! Whether or not you want to face that fact is up to you....so the saying goes Ignorance IS Bliss, so you must be pretty Blissful right??

I'm not blaming illegals so much as I'm asking why they're not being deported. If you went to Mexico illegally, and were found out, you'd be deported in short order. Why should it be different in the United States? Also, you mentioned they were working, which is also against the law. Get em out of our country, no deals, no 1/2 measures, go as far as a free bus ticket, but that's all you get.

Furthermore, I don't care what your ethnicity is, if you're in the US illegally, get right, or get out. But, since Mexico's widely overrepresented in the statistics regarding illegal immigration, maybe first we deal with the big problem, then work our way around to Palau or whatever.

Mexico needs to become self-supporting. The mexican people need to do this IN mexico. Congress needs to start seeing to it that immigration law is enforced. My feeling is that in November, we'll see the american public start electing people that'll 'do the jobs that Congress won't do', and that'll be the end of all this. Maybe they'll even go so far as to get rid of La Raza etc. That'd sure be nice, our schools not playing host to this stuff anymore.

No that's not a honest assessment. no longer each and all of the unlawful immigrants are humble staggering human beings. some are some are not. do no longer blame human beings for wanting some style of regulation in place which prevents the nastier factors from illegally residing in the country.

I totally agree! I have found that the majority of these people are hard working individuals. I feel they should be given a chance to find a better life right here in THE MELTING POT; THE USA. Yes, they need to abide by the same rules the rest of us have but come on people; how many of you desire the jobs they are working?

You got some very good answers on this one but Hayleylov has a great answer. Read it. Illegals cause a lot of problems here and if you can't see that, you are blind or just don't want to see. ILLEGAL=AGAINST THE LAW.

In a two year period, Arizona's Medicare (AHCCCS) costs have skyrocketed from $200 million annually in 2001 to a staggering $1.2 billion in 2003. According to 2001 Census Bureau estimates, approximately 4,400 illegal immigrant households have at least one member fraudulently enrolled in the program. Still, legislators obstinately refuse to even try to determine the exact costs incurred by taxpayers due to the lawmakers’ haphazard and destructive immigration policies.

Many area hospitals are following suit. Arizona's hospitals report $1.4 billion a year in losses to uncompensated care. Arizona taxpayers have been stuck with a portion of the bill in the past; now in addition to the monetary cos,t they also face a loss of adequate health care for themselves and their families, because the government mandates these hospitals care for illegal aliens. The impact of providing unlimited medical services to the illegal community has cost Arizonans dearly.

In 2001, a University of Arizona study estimated the financial cost of illegals to the Arizona taxpayer. They found that a total cost in Fiscal Year 2001 of over $330 million dollars in three main categories: $140 million in health care costs, $100 million for education and $90 million in criminal justice expenses.

Border hospitals lose millions of dollars annually caring for sick or injured illegal immigrants, but a $1 billion federal aide package promises relief.

LOS ANGELES (AP) The county spent about $350 million last year providing health care to illegal immigrants, the Department of Health Services said.

p.s. mexico patrols their southeren border and they have their miliatry on their northern border they also are very cruel to immigrants there. i have heard from them themselves they dont want to lose their jobs to their southern neighbors and we should be glad they do this. humm sounds hypocritcal dont you think

You are right , it's not the illegals we should blame . It's the Corporations that advertise in Mexico , for workers to come to America . They are the ones that should pay, not the taxpayers ..

I don't blame everything on illegal immigration. I do think that if it wasn't for illegal immigration we would be better able to help Americans who truly need it.
