I'm not sure exactly how long it can last, but I do know that the affected person needs to see a doctor for treatment ASAP to ensure the best possible outcome. If you know the name for the condition, I'm assuming you've already done this though, and found a doctor that is at least somewhat familiar with it. I don't find any reference to how long it lasts, other than the child can have "episodes" over a period of time.
