I seen on the news that there's a labor shortage in the fields. What's gonna happen if we don't get a guest worker program or some type of immigration reform?

Nothing to worry, the work will get done.. might require increase in wages to the people doing to work.

A common myth is that increasing the wages of the field worker will skyrocket the price of food, this will increase the price of produce verry little. Most of the money that is saved by using illegal labor is only seen by the producer himself. There are alot of factors that goes into the price of produce after it has been harvested such as shipping and storage.

The lack of feild labor to me apears to be a problem the producer are making by refusing to raise wages, this is possible in retalition to the local goverments fighting aginst the illegal immigration.

So there is really nothing to worry about, if the wages are not raised the producers will loose money, by attempting to add public hysteria to the situation they will try to achive their goal of cheap labor.

Their not working in the fields in Florida, so what is the difference, they want better jobs now and more money, so much for cheap labor. In landscaping they were working for 8 or 10 an hour now they are demanding 15 and hour. So why hire an illegal. A guest worker program will not work, the ones that are here will not leave anyway unless they are forced, would you go home to no job, well they won't either. And if they are coming on a guest worker program, when it is their time to leave they won't leave, just like the ones that come on a visa, once they get here they won't go back home, that is why immigration stoped giving out visas from certain countries. And I have heard people complaining that it is hard to get a visa now.

The employers will have to go back to paying the wages they paid in the 70s, in today's dollars.

I wouldn't be opposed to a truly seasonal worker like the H2 visa, where the employer provides housing and they don't bring family. It is birthing and educating their children that is the huge cost.

"Guest worker" is just another illegal alien. They don't belong in this country and you know it. Don't use a "labor shortage" as an excuse to allow these illegal aliens in as squatters. I don't know your sources, but there more than enough naturalized Americans available to do the work.

Nothing the 80% of farms who don't hire Illegals will take care of it. Most farmers hate the big Corporate farms. The media is trying to make you believe you will hurt--it is just not true. We took care of it before and we can again.
Plenty of people can do the jobs. Plenty-get informed of the true facts. Read back post-it might help

we eventually will become a nation that relies on imports. we already import products, produce, automobiles and everything else from over seas. we are going to become dependent on those nations. Sad isn't it.
