If I am having a destination wedding and want to hire a wedding planner, then do I hire the planner from where the wedding will take place or from where we live?

It would probably be a good idea to hire the planner at the location you are going to be married. Just be sure that you fully trust the taste of that planner because they may be making last minute decisions for you due to the fact that you will not be present for the meetings with vendors, etc. Also, be sure to discuss payments for vendors and your planners, you don't want it to be a week before your wedding and not know how much you are really spending, be clear with your budget and your wishes. I would suggest hiring a planner from where your wedding will be held-- that way you have a local contact who knows local vendors. If you hire from where you live, you may be responsible for the additional costs of flying your planner to the destination for planning, etc. If you have the money, do both -- then you have the best of both worlds.
