There are many causes of headaches, some of which are identified by various important signs and symptoms diagnostic of well-known conditions. In your case, coupled with the loss of vision in your right eye, i would think that it could be either a vascular problem which is affecting your optic nerve or classical migraine.

In your case, there are 2 very important details, the most leading one is the loss of vision in your right eye. This is invariably due to a lesion in your optic nerve, for it is the commonest cause. I do not know of any other causes that can lead to loss of vision. After establishing that, it is important to find out what exactly is causing the optic nerve lesion, and the 2 most common causes would be either vascular or neoplastic in origin. The most common vascular problem is an aneurysm where the blood vessel is enlarged resulting in a saccular outpouching. It is serious only because the vessel walls are stretched and thus weaker, and can be ruptured due to high blood pressures, resulting in hemorrhages, which could be life-threatening. I would say it is a vascular problem because if it were a tumour, then you would have a constant headache instead of intermittent ones.

The best bet would be to ask your doctor for some neuroimaging studies. Perhaps he thinks that it is migraine, where you can have intermittent headaches and loss of vision but i think it is always safer to err on the side of safety, just to be sure.

Hope you get better, take care! :D

It sounds like you might be suffering from migraine headaches, which can sometimes affect the vision of one or both eyes. My mom and I are both migraine sufferers, so I unfortunately know what I'm talking about.

Less likely, but more scary, is the idea that you might have an aneurysm in your brain (a ballooning blood vessel that can lead to a stroke) or even a brain tumor! I don't think either of these is the case, since the headache has been "off and on" for a week now. It's probably a migraine.

But, no matter what it is, I think you ought to be evaluated and diagnosed by a doctor who actually CARES and LISTENS to you, rather than just dumping some pills on you and sending you on your way. :( Please find another doctor, because you owe it to yourself to get this problem resolved. Good luck! :)

Headaches are frustrating no doubt. There are too many different kinds of headaches and variations. I would recommend doing some research on headaches and headache treatments especially look into migraines and cluster headaches. It sounds kind of like a cluster headache to me. Primary care doctors know the basics of headaches but aren't that helpful, you could try to go to a neurologist but in my experience neurologists don't especially care about headaches. Did your doctor give you something to abort the headaches (something you take when you have one) or something to prevent them (something you take every day)? If you got something to abort headaches I don't think it will help much because most medicines take 20 minutes to kick in. If you got something to abort headaches it may take a while to build up in your system. Keep a log of everything you eat, your sleeping patterns, your stress level, and when exactly you get a headache, what the pain is like, and how long it lasts, and bring it back into the doctor this will help your doctor better understand the patterns and if its a migraine may be able to point to some causes in your diet. Hope that helps and good luck.

I get these as well and theres nothing wrong with you! My eye doctor told me alot of people get these as well. I start to see a "distortion" in my vision and after about 20 minutes, it returns to normal only to be followed by a migraine headache. I try to stay calm, preferably in a quiet, dark place and ride it out. You can try excedrin migraine when you get the vision problem, that way , when the headache gets there, it won't hurt so much. I try to use pressure points as well to relieve some of the discomfort. Hang in there!!!

My husband was having real bad headaches for two years. They would get so bad he would cry. The doctors kept giving him pain meds and none would work, he finally went to a doc and got help. He was diagnosed with cluster headaches. Look these up on the internet and see if the description fits you. If not , sorry and hope you can find your answer. Good luck.

It sounds like u r having cluster headaches. This is a form of a migraine. Good luck with the doctors. I suffer from migraines and cluster headaches. The only thing that helps is taking 2 extra strength excedrine and 1 tylenol. Good luck.

Did you tell him about the vision problem also?? Sometimes people can get headaches which disrupt the visual cortex, called eye aches. This could just be stress related. But is best if you thoroughly mention the details to your doctor (ie, how long it lasts, how often, pain 1 - 10, location of the pain, other symptoms, any other aches, visual disruptions of any sort)

You sound miserable, wish I could make you feel better... K my personal fav is Excederin Migraine but sounds like the medicine isn't working.

Definently go back to the Doc and tell him meds are making it worse. Something kind of simple and ordinary but always makes my headaces go away is drinking a lot of water way more than usual and then take the Excederin Migraine and then go to sleep at a usual night time.

Next morn I always feel like new! Good Luck Dear

First, figure out the possible reasons. Maybe you've gotten over stressed, or you've been getting too little of sleep. Second, you don't need a perscription, just buy Excedrin or Tylenol. Take 1 or 2 tablets with someting that doesn't have caffeine.

if its due to colds or fevers try tablets with cetrazine or paracetamol respectively . and have a good sleep for 8 hrs.
if this dont work , could be due to stress also. try and relax.
if this is also not the cause, have yr eyes tested. sometimes vision problems also give headaches.
