How do you think that will help someone see "the light"? Is it appropriate for you to judge is who is beyond redemption? Do you feel no remorse that it might turn them away from "the light" instead?

Not all Christians are like this, I know, but you know who you are.

Spite is evil intent. To curse someone or do something evil or intent to hurt someone.

Christians pray for another person's well being & not for spite.

To pray for someone, it is being obedient to God because God puts in on persons heart to pray for that someone. It doesn't matter what response I see or hear so much from that someone, but whether God heard my prayer that I prayed because He wanted me to & He knows my heart is for that someone & not against that someone. Abide in His Love & His Word, ask what you will & it shall be given unto you.

If God tells me not to pray for or tell someone, "I'll pray for you.", I wont. I trust God in this. If God directs me to let someone know I am praying for her or him, I will let them know & not concern myself that they might be offended. I obeyed God.

If the spirit of inercession comes strong on me to pray for someone, I'll pray passionately for that person. If it is a desire of my heart for someone & is rooted in love, I ask it & God hears it. If I know God hears it, then I receive it.
The prayers of a righteous person avails much.

No person can judge another as beyond redemption. It is also not appropriate to spite someone with prayer; it's probably even sinful.

Prayer though is effective and will help someone to see "the light" if there is any part of them that desires to see.

Hmmm, I'm trying to figure out what you're saying here. The Scriptures do teach us to pray for our enemies, but not to necessarily tell them we'll pray for them! I know when I'm in prayer praying for someone, well the Lord has a way of changing me instead.
Some people aren't right with the Lord and say things that are judgmental, and this isn't good. I'm still not sure if I understand what you're saying, but I tried!

I don't do this, and I feel it is rude to tell a non believer "I will pray for you", sort of like telling a diabetic "I'll bake you a chocolate cake with lots of icing". It's like whoever is saying that just did not get it through their head what the non believer was saying. { For believers, yes pray for that person if you feel the urge, but don't tell them you will as if you are haughty (a sin according to the Bible) - or more wise or more advanced than them}

Real Christians do pray for someone.
Some pray without telling the person that they are praying for him.
Others say that to spite them.
All need prayer.
Isn't it a shame that we are human?
We are stuck here until we go.
Good thing that we don't make the big decisions were someone ought to go.

To those who mean it and really are praying for you (not just your soul), but your well-being in general, your family, finances, etc.; then I would have to say yes, it's appropriate. But saying it in the Mandy Moore in the movie 'Saved' way, NO. That is just being a sanctimonious, uppity hypocrite and is in no way helping anyone out. There is no points system people. I think Jesus would agree. =)

I accept it from Christians as what they do ,I don't say anything rude to them if they say that....I am a non believer but if they choose to say it to me as spite or being sincere it is accepted and I walk away ,unmoved and unscathed.I am an agnostic, not an atheists
It has almost become as meaningless to the sayer as have a nice day.

the way that I take it is to nicely known that human beings are imperfect. we don't understand why they act the way that they do. I fall short because of fact i won't manage to declare that i like all, like i'm meant to. i in my view do no longer think of i'm greater helpful than absolutely everyone else. i will like my way of coping with issues greater helpful and am happy i do no longer sin in specific procedures that others do yet who's to declare i'm greater helpful? despite if, i do no longer hate them - I comprehend that only God knows their hearts and we are no longer referred to as to choose. Love is a robust observe yet there are distinctive modifications of that observe. I do the wonderful that i can and that's all i can do. i in my view have not got any enemies. different than devil. and that i do no longer would desire to love him :) i in my view sense sorry for him yet have self belief he's gonna get what he merits interior the tip!

Actually, the Bible says that if you bless your enemy, you are heaping hot coals on his head. Either he will come around and you will get a reward, or his guilt will be even greater, and without excuse. LOL. Time to pray for some of these atheists here...

saying 'I'll pray for you' is like rubbing salt in the wound. seems almost cruel to be so blunt by saying something like that anyways. i know i would never do so. people usually say it to make themselves sound superior and think that it'll get the other person to think 'oh well than he must be with god' its a pointless thing, the person can pray for him/herself is they want. unless they specifically ask for you to help them with prayer i don't see why you should spite them by saying something like that.
