I m sorry to say that u have made a wrong decision by "dropping out of Islam". U should keep in mind that the chances of Islam being a falsereligion r too low to consider leaving it. If u want to know more check this website: www.what-is-islam.org
Convert back : I advice u, believe me! U will calm and get all the peace u deserve as a muslim. The decision is urs to make and may god help u do so.

If you were walking the wrong Path for you, it can be stressful. However, the calm can also be the natural result of having made a decision and moved on.
One thing I would caution against is putting too much stake in other people's opinions about your spiritual persuits. This is not about "keeping up with the Jones'" but rather about honoring your Sacred Self and the small voice within. Whatever religion or philosophy one chooses it should be something that inspires him or her to be the best Human possible 24-7. And when the day comes that (for whatever reason) the motivation ceases, it's time for reassessment -- this often happens at critical junctures of life: car accidents, death of a loved one, personal cycles etc.
This was one part of your spiritual journey. Honor what it taught you, and take the best with you wherever you go.

Religion can be an addiction like anything else. Religion can not only fill the hole in your spirit but it can give you a sense of rapture. Although religion is not seemingly a crutch, it can be vehicle for people under great stress outwardly, inwardly or both. Drug addicts, alcoholics, excon's are often driven into religion.
Religion becomes a trade off, but it usually is a good trade-off because religion in the Western World at least is usually benevolent and peaceful.
(That does seem to be changing with the advent of latest strain of American fanaticism in religion combined with political ideas and strategies)
The reason I don't go to church is because it makes me feel to good. I am a sucker for awesomeness of religion. But I also found out that the sensation of awesomeness can also be created by war.
Combat breeds a multitude of addictive behaviors. For example, the stresses of war on our population in America have created major social and medical problems growing out of exposure to combat.
And we are victims of this phenomenon.
We go from one war to next and each war makes our society less cohesive and more combative than before.
Yes, you can recover from religion, but it well take a very long time with many starts and stops to finally adjust. The key is monitoring what is happening inside your mind, body and emotions
War for the United States is an addictive pattern that continues to grow from generation to generation. And, it spreads disability as it travels in America.

No surprise really. Islam and the Koran is so full of hate and the duty to convert or kill every other person who refuses to convert.
