I wouldnt let my 13 year old daughter watch either of them - there is always an issue as to the severity and amount of sex/gore in anything you allow your children to watch - thats what the ratings are for.
NO sex scenes or gore for any child!!! Let them keep their innocence as long as possible.
If I had to state a preference I think I would actually choose sex/nudity over gore (as long it was mild sex/nudity) because, all said and done, sex is a part of life - generally these horror stories are just that - stories - and do not echo real life. Also horror is more likely to give them nightmares.

I faced the same problem when my Mom banned me from watching the Night of the Living dead as a kid...though the concept of zombies fascinated me as a kid. I realise now that she was right in doing so, because I did sneak a view of a scenes when everybody had gone to bed and I was terrified for weeks afterward...some movies really do scare grown up people, so who can measure the impact they have on a kid?As for the second question, No I don't think it's okay to watch romantic themed movies at an early either...Science reports say that children are more aware of sexual information, even before puberty than they were 20 years ago. The media has grown to influence every part of our life, But I guess it's the parents job to restrict it as is appropriate to their childrens ages. After all, The censor board can only give a rating, it's upto the public to enforce it. Most horror movies do carry a PG-18 rating, while most romance movies do carry a teen rating.

Generally children can watch violent horror movies, gangster movies etc. as they know it is only a movie, fiction that does not happen in everyday life.
What they cannot relate to and get very upset by are films which show a family where, for example, the Dad beats up the Mum or there are constant arguements etc. This is because they can easily imagine it happening at home and they then wonder what they would do if it did and if it was their fault.

No, i dont think it is suitable for the 13 year old to be watching any of this. Horrors and Sex scene movies are usually rated for 18 +. It is recommended that no persons under this age is to view it. Viewing a movie when you are not old enough, or not mature enough, can lead to problems in older life. It can affect the mental health.. And maybe people wont see this, but if your 13 year old was watching someone getting murdered, to be honest i think they would be affected by this. It is a very disturbing thing to see, and i do think that British Board of Film Classification is a good thing and should be listened to.

In my opinion, I do not think young children should watch any movies that are rated R. If you are not sure about a movie, watch it first. That is a good rule of thumb. I have let my 10 year old watch certain PG-13 movies that I watched first. These were generally movies dealing with real life situations such as Hotel Rowanda.

Some movies, whether they have nudity or sex, aren't appropriate for children. I remember my mom letting me watch horror movies at a young age and it wasn't the best thing. I had terrible nightmares on and off.

horror movies to my mind have an impact on young children, my daughter is 16 and she hates them, her boyfriend put 1 on the other nite and even tho she hid bhind a pillow all the time it was on she was afraid to go to sleep 4 three nites after, i think it also gives people ideas, ban them all. sexuality is part of life, and children are educated about this at school, but being tortured to death etc shouldnt be put into films, theres to much of it in the world as it is without it being put onto dvd for glorifying in as some people do.BAN THEM ALL i say.

Well to start with a child has no concept of fear until you as parents or other family members or friends drum into them that if they are naughty that the monsters are gonna get them or by allowing them to watch violent, horror films, keep your child from these type of things.
