how people see the world is totally about the perception of those looking ...
i see so much beauty around me yet others fail to see it ..
is it not there ? or is it because i want to see it ?
i dont see worries .. i see challenges
i dont see failures .. i see lessons
let me share soemthing i wrote with you corey and i hope it makes sense for you
I walked today along a path i have taken many many times before , desolute and derilict , with old buildings scattered here and there between the ones that have been already torn down . i could never see past the ugliness of the place , the bricks strewn over what used to be garden paths , weeds popping out from cracks in the pavement .
as i walked today i could feel the sun on my cheeks , i felt a little happier in my thoughts and lowering my head to what had once been no more to me than rubble and my eyes wandered past this ugly mess for the first time and where the weeds grew in the broken pathways there was peeping up at me some lovely wilds flowers that had once belonged in the previous owners garden . So i let my eyes wader a little more seeing past the unsightly rubbish thrown around by those who walked by daily using this as short cut home , kids wrappers , cigarette stubs and the usual cans and bottles thrown thoughtlessly ........ there was little yellow buds peering up at me , little buttercups , and as i wandered some more little blue bells , infact the more i looked around and ignored all the usual horrid sights there was an array of colour slipping through every possible outlet, even the weeds had a new beauty .
now i asked myself
" have they always been there ?" "why did i not see them yesterday ? " " do i see these because i am happier in my heart today ? "
even as my eyes lifted towards the horizon , instead of the houses in the distance that i felt spoiled my view I seen in between them rows of wonderous trees and hedgerows painting a new picture with glorious shades of green.
you know we dont often look past the surface of things , we see what we want to see , we are lazy in our perception of our beautiful world .
Its a true saying you know " we can't see the woods for the trees " we are always too busy looking to notice .
we see the kid with the messy hands and shout at them to get a wash but we dont stop to see the lovely finger painting they have just done for you
we see the beggar in the street but dont see past the dirty old clothes to notice his kind warm eyes
we see the rainclouds spoil the sun and dont think to look for the rainbow
so maybe next time you take a little walk about town or country or wherever you are , dont just look on the surface of things , look a little further , you will be amazed at what you didn't see before.

The world can be beautiful but it very much depends on where you see it from.
Imagine you’ve just been launched into space, you look back and watch the Earth through a rush of clouds turn into a beautiful blue green and white coloured ball. Seems so peaceful, how could such an inspiring serene picture be home to so many violent selfish greedy human residents.
The hours pass and Earth turns into an ever reducing multi-coloured little marble, and all around is darkness pitted with twinkling white stars. You strain your eyes and watch Earth disappear into a barely visible flicker of light, and still all around is just darkness pitted with twinkling stars.
You fall asleep and when you awaken everything looks the same. Darkness scattered with distant stars. You’re lost, you have no idea where Earth is, up down, left right, Earth has gone for good. Everything is just darkness and stars in every direction you look.
Now ask yourself, do you really believe that violent life on some planet that you’ve no idea where it is, has the answer to everything around you.

I remember the happiness our military folk expressed when they were doing relief work and not killing work. Their logistical skills are awesome and needed for the good works you cite.
My precious precious father died suddenly and unexpectedly while I was visiting him this Spring. The day I arrived I had asked him with a strange urgency, what's the sense of anything when you just die, when someone you love dies? And tho he was gentle and peaceful the whole week otherwise, he got very passionate and said 'whether you live 60 years or 100, it's far too short, and meaningless on a universal scale. and it's all you've got. embrace it with everything, find your interests and develop them, find your loved ones and take care of them.
I don't know if we can safe the world anymore. Now that my father has died, odd has it is logically, the world seems a much blacker place to me. I still marvelled at the sunset we saw on the way home from my child's music lesson last nigt, but I'm more acutely aware that things don't always turn out how we wish and not everything can be fixed.
But, while we're breathing, let's go for it. I love your idea!

The world is a beautiful place. But I am sure that millions of people long for the New heaven and the New Earth where sorrow and mourning will be no more.
Abused wives and children. lonely old people who cannot get out any more to appreciate the flowers. Those in prison or facing a death sentence for their faith. The be levers in China, who have to hide to worship. The be levers in Muslim countries who could be executed under Shari'a law for converting a friend to Christianity.
I could go on. But I say: Come Lord Jesus even so come Quickly!

Absolutely, the earth is a beautiful place. Romans 1:20 (from memory, not from pasting) says, "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." How cool is that, that creation alone is evidence to a holy and loving God?

An utopian world - a dream. Why not start at home. Look around you and you will see God's/Mother Natures beauty. In this world of electronic gadgetry, young people are not taught to look at the natural side of life. They see beauty in make-up, fine clothes, shoes, cars and the one hundred and one other things that make their lives 'happy'. I prefer to see a wild birds nest, a rabbit or fish jumping in a small mountainside stream. Open your eyes and see what is about you. Read on:
Hainault Forest.
The forest, damp and dismal is still a wondrous place,
It holds so many secrets in its dark green shrouded space.
Nature’s solid beauty that’s seen in an oak tree,
The singing birds, unspoken words, the humming of the bee.
The brown blackbird within its nest,
The heron on one leg at rest,
The squirrel scampering through the tree,
These are some things, which you can see.
The lakes with frogs, fish, ducks and geese,
The long dry grass moves with the breeze,
The silence, save for the curlews cry
As tufts of clouds in the sky drift by.
The pheasants showing their dark red crests,
The green woodpecker that never rests,
The hare out running at great speed,
The dandelions with their airborne seed.
The sound of laughter from somewhere nearby,
The crying call of a small lost boy,
The sight of a fox out with its young,
The rabbits romping having fun.
Young lovers walking hand in hand,
The distant sound of a small brass band,
The sudden cry of a startled Jay,
The setting sun, the end of day.
So what at first seemed dark and grey,
Holds secrets of a world at play,
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder,
So open yours to nature’s wonder.
Such marvels which are in Gods Plan,
Were given by Him, to earthly man,
So I beg you, if you please,
See the forest - not just the trees.

I agree with you whole-heartedly. Religion is a scare tactic, IMHO, not a tool that promotes understanding between people or even curiosity about the rich world in which we live.

I think most of it is gorgeous. even the stuff most people would see as common or everyday has it's own beauty, because of what it says about the people who live and work and dream and die in those areas. the human creature is beautiful, in all its forms. (except maybe the psychopathic one. that's not so great.)

I like this thought. I would fully back this new period of enlightenment. We are all part of an intricately beautiful world which should be held in our highest regard. After all, whatever created us, this world is what keeps us alive.
