My 3 year old daughter gets the hiccups every time she laughs hard..especially that cute lil belly giggle... should I be concerned?

Same thing happens to me sometimes (and it's not so cute at 40). Don't worry, as long as she eventually stops hiccuping, she'll be fine.

Hiccups are a spasm of the diaghram (the muscle that controls breathing). Just like any other muscle spasm, it eventually stops.

Sounds like your little girl's diaphragm is just a little more sensitive to the way air movement stops and starts during laughter, leading to a muscle spasm, i.e. hiccups. Hiccups are harmless, though they can be annoying. If you are really concerned about it, ask her pediatrician at her next appointment.

No my brother is 4 years old and he laugh so hard and have hiccups.

All I know is that hiccups are harmless. Laughing hard probably effects her stomach juices, which causes the hiccups.

Maybe this is not true but i think i read somewhere hiccups might be related to intestinal parasites..
