I dont think a person who has been adopted as a child and has grown up in a family can marry his adopted sister in the UK. However if they were older teenagers say 15, 16 when their parents adopted them then it is not the same. If they were brought up together from birth then they are regarded as brother and sister and cannot marry, if they were only adopted when they were older then they can marry as the relationship is not seen as being incestuious. However this is not the same in some countries and the couple may be able to marry in another country where it is legal.

In America, parents of a biological child and an adopted child are LEGALLY the parents of both children. So LEGALLY, those children are siblings and cannot marry. You could check with an attorney specializing in family law to determine if there is a legal remedy.

You can as you are only related by paper. Your only brother and sister from an adoption. In America you can marry as long as they are not blood related and you can also marry your 3, 4, 5, 6, etc cousin as well. You just can't marry your first or second cousin.
Best of luck to you.

When an adoption is complete the birth certificate is rewritten to have the names of the adoptive parents. So they run into that snag when there is a records check to get the wedding license (I imagine they check your birth certificate at that time).

Other than that, peopl ewho were raised as siblings usually do not want to marry one another. There have been psychology papers written about this, that spending "sibling time" together as children makes the people view the person as a sibling, not a future mate. Even non-relatives who are raised believing they are siblings will tend to not want to marry their "sibling."

Yes, they can marry because they arent blood related. Your adoptive parents arent your legal parents. They are your legal guardians. So whoever said you have the same parents is wrong. You have the same legal guardians, but that still doesnt make you related.

Technically you can because it is not a blood relationship, but it might be morally a little ackward for people. I think Woody Allen did something like that, and he seems to be happily married.

Through adoption, it would still be considered incest. Sorry!
