They simply don't know enough and perhaps are not caring enough to want to know.
Its such a sad refllection of today's society and is a global trend I think.
I'm sorry you have Neurofibromatosis, I have a neurological disease that has put me in a wheelchair and left me dependent on others. Not everyone understands my illness either but I try to just live life to the full a day at a time and not let the attitude of others make me feel bad.
Knowledge is power and you are more powerful than those who make the insensitive comments.

I'm so sorry that you have to endure the ignorance of small minded people. Sometimes it takes them or someone they care about becoming ill before they "get it." I expect children to blurt out questions when they see someone who is different. Teens and adults should know better.
In the scheme of things it sounds like there are a small number of jerks who make stupid, unkind remarks about your appearance. You're human, and those remarks are upsetting. It's normal for you to pay attention to them and not realize that most people don't think that way. What would be great is if other people, overhearing those comments, would take the offenders to task and embarrass the h**l out of them.
You certainly are just as good as anyone else. God bless!

I find that people who have nothing wrong with them or that never suffered from illness or hardship have no notion of what it is like to be suffering in pain.
They have no respect for their legs arms heart lungs face head backs chest body skin - any body part. Because they have neither had pain or ache the do not have respect for their own body parts let alone anyone else's.
They don't respect or consider what they are taking for granted every day.
If you suffer from an invisible condition and in constant pain in every limb you understand just how important every good body part is that functions without you feeling pain of any degree or description and can also face discrimination from abled bodyed people.
I am sorry to hear that you have been having such an awful time going about you business - just keep safe this is an awful world and so sad how the stronger treats the weaker person without consideration for what that person is suffering. Try to take little or no notice of them to get annoyed about as then they are invading on your private life. This is not a level playing field and everyone doesn't get the same life chances but this is our own individual destiny and we do not have the power to change this happening I beleive we are given life challenges and its how we over come those challenges that counts.
This world is not caring and it is hard for you but additudes like these that you have mentioned are wrong and ill percieved.
These types I feel sorry for because their out look will be bleak at a later date when some thing be falls on them that is not fair and what goes around comes around.
My illness is considered invisible in appearance but it is anything but invisible [to me]. I am in constant pain that migrates around my body sometimes I would like to have amputation to get rid of a part it is so bad. I had to fight back with family relatavies health professionals GP's etc., to prove it was not all in my head this was a living hell and I understand how hurting it is for you to be treated so badly and it is not your fault. I will pray for you to find peace.

I am so sorry about your medical problem and I also know what you're talking about too.
I have many medical problems and I find that there are so few people who will believe me when I say that I can't do something because of this or that. I believe that if they themselves don't have the same problem or a similar one they chose not to believe you and think you are just making it up to avoid doing something and that really burns me. A lot of these people are ones that I've known for many years too but they don't see or feel my ailments so they won't believe me.
I have spent many nights as well as days crying over this and to think that people will even come out and call me a liar just because they don't have any medical problems of their own.
It's not until someone comes down with a medical problem of their own that they ask me to forgive them for their not believing me.

I wish I could tell you! People can be such jerks! I work at a special needs dental clinic, we have folks with any number of different abilities and appearances. I also worked at a group home and the ladies I worked with got stared at where ever we went it irked me!! Sorry to hear about your ill treatment, just look them in the eye, and eventually they will realize what jerks they are being and hopefully STOP the rude behaviour. Good luck and God bless

Because alot of people dont care or dont want to know those who are diffrent in whatever way,no matter how small.Theyr selfish,+ so long as its not happen to them, they dont want to know. However there are a percentage of us who, even though they're 'normal' look to see the person inside. The outside is just a shell. If you were to choose2 lobsters in a restraunt, would the 1with barnicles+ winkle shells on it taste diffrent from the 1 without? No!

You are right and I am very sorry. When an illness is visible, it is an easy target for cruelty. I have severe sleep apnea. I have been told by naive people that I have no right to be a burden for society by getting SDI. However, if I drive, I may kill someone. And guess who would be sued!
We all need to know when we DON'T know. But it is so easy to be cruel to someone without the correct facts, because in doing so, we make our own failings seem less.
This is human nature. I am very sorry.

I don't think people mean to imply that you're not as good as anyone else. Unfortunately, some people have no concept of the differences in people, so when they see something out of their narrow realm of concept, they are rude. To them all people should look like some cookie-cutter, mass-produced product. Don't get mad; pity them. Their box of crayons must be very dull, indeed, if all the crayons are the same.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but it's very weird and different what you have, and people don't like weird and different. They say they want to be "unique" but all the Goths, preppies business men and women all dress in a very similar fashion. We are a "grouping" species. Most adults learn to keep their mouth shut but younger people are mean, rude and offensive. It sucks, but that is life.

I think people reject the unfamiliar. I'll willing accept anyone for who they are and i think people are afraid, or embarrassed even by people who don't look the same as them. My dad is really nasty about people who are different, but i think he's an a***hole, i don't like him for more reasons than that, but i still accept him for who he is, even though i think he should change. Although, i daren't say that, because i'm scared...:s
You should treat others as you would like to be treated yourself. You should stay as you are - being proud to be different. Everyone's unique, everyon'e made in God's image and He wants us to be like that.
