A cleaveland steamer.
No really, a gift on a first date makes you look like you are trying too hard. You don't want to look desparate. If you absolutely MUST give her something, try a very small cheerful bouquet of mixed flowers.

I remember a first date from many years ago. The guy was wonderful, but he did something that baffles me to this day. He sent a dozen roses to me the afternoon of our date.
As thrilled as I was to get the beautiful roses, the gesture has always bothered me a little.
We went on the date that evening. He was wonderful and funny and nice looking, also. Still, I just could not help but wonder why he sent the roses. Was he just flaunting his wealth? Trying to impress me?
I know that it was not because he liked me. It was a first date, and we did not even really know each other.
Now, if he had sent the roses the day AFTER the date it would truly have left a huge impression. I would have thought that he was really impresses with the way that our date went. I would have called him right away to thank him for the roses.
You might want to consider waiting until the day after your first date to pour on the gifts. It will leave a much better impression and she will feel the need to call you to thank you for the gift. Then you will have the perfect opportunity to ask her out again. Best Wishes.

Your impression is the best memorable gift for a first date. Be the gentleman and pull the chair out for her when in a restaurant. Be the gentleman to open the cab's door for her. Be the gentleman to add sugar to her coffee or tea.

Flowers, candy the old stand by, but if you can think of something that would be a remembrance of the date say silly pictures at a booth in the mall if you are going shopping, candles from the hot tub,(Extra ones you have not lit,),buy something while you are on the date, win her a stuffed animal at the carnival or even out of those game things, you can be creative or stick to traditional.

The best gift you can give a woman on the first date is to be yourself, treat her with respect and don't try to get her in bed.

A single red rose. I'll remember that one forever! It's not saying too much or scaring the poor girl. If you overdo it on the first date she'll be scared away. A single red rose says that she is special - it's just right for the first date.

If a man gave me anything but flowers on the first date, I would run for the hills. Anything else demonstrates possessiveness and obligation.

Dont bring a gift, I think its a little wierd. Just bring one red rose to symbolize your first date. Its sweet, simple, cheap, and wont freak her out.
