My doctor prescribed me Nexium for my severe heartburn and esophagus damage, but my insurance will not cover the medication until the authorization goes through. Trouble is I'm going on vacation before I'll be able to get the medication and of course my Doctor is on vacation now too. I'll be moving around a lot on my vacation and I cannot take the prescription with me. Can I take Prilosec, which is over the counter, until I return from my 10 day trip, and will it help me? Is it safe to switch between the two medicines?

I took Nexium for years and my prescription benefits ran out- because Nexium is so expensive! My doctor put me on Prilosec instead. I have to take 2 of them for it be effective (I was on 40 mg of Nexium), but it works! I don't think it sticks around in the body as long as Nexium, because I can't be late taking it, tho, or my heartburn returns! Good luck!

I use Prilosec when I run out of or have to wait for my Nexium prescription, It works great but is expensive compared to my prescription coverage. I would try it and enjoy your vacation!

And the gallbladder looked at effective? No "sludge", even? I had the same indications, and that i had important gallstones that required surgical operation. If it is been awhile, see in the event that they are able to run yet another ultrasound on your gallbladder. it could enhance and intensify over the years. they did not diagnose me for virtually a year, which particularly sucked because of fact it lasped over 2 pregnancies, and that throughout itself complicated concerns. and that they did each and every attempt in the e book on me, and by ability of "they" I recommend the 6 different docs that i grew to become into surpassed around to. i understand that worry while that discomfort hits and it feels like a heart attack. terrific of effective fortune.

Prilosec works great and maybe you could try it until you can ask your doctor.
