The CD-R that I have work just fine, but when I try to burn stuff to the CD-RW it just won't work. And I know I have a CD-RW drive.. When I burn stuff to it, it seems to be working. But once it finishes and I put the CD-RW back in to see if there's files and stuff on there, there's nothing. I burned music using Windows Media Player, and it seemed to work too. And there was actually a file on there.. but it didn't play... =// Whyyy??? I'm getting really frustratedddd. Please help. =]]

Hmm, that is odd. Here are some suggestions. First, set Windows to display show extension for known file types go to Windows Explorer > File Options > View > scroll down to "Show extension for known file types" and make sure it is checked. Insert the CD-RW, the one that you already burn, in to your CD drive. Next, right click the CD drive and choose Open. Check to see if there are any files found on the CD, play close attention to their file types. If there are files then the problem most likely is the CD drive itself. If there are no files then the problem is most likely the software you are using.

Double check to see if your CD drive supports CD-RW. It is usually etched on the front panel of the drive.

Microsoft has a WMP Faq regarding burning music on to a CD-RW

If you burn a data disc with music files and it does not play in your portable, home, or car CD player, check the following:

• Your CD player may not support playback of data CD or DVD discs. Refer to the CD player's documentation for details.

• The CD might be burned onto media, such as CD-RW, that is not compatible with the CD player. Refer to the CD player's documentation for details.

• Your CD player may not support playback of the type of music files burned on the disk (WMA or MP3). Refer to the CD player's documentation for details.

• The songs might be protected with media usage rights. Other computers may be able to aquire usage rights and play the songs if they have a connection to the Internet, but devices such as portable CD players and car stereos will not be able to acquire those rights, so protected content will be unplayable.

• The CD might not have been closed when it was burned. Usually you can resolve this problem by adding more songs to the burn list so you are close to the maximum capacity of the CD. Then, try burning the list again to a new CD.

Why doesn't this blank disc work for burning?
If the disc you inserted is identified as "Blank disc" in the Navigation pane but a message in the List pane instructs you to insert a writable disc, the disc might be defective or no longer writable. This disc might not be writable, for example, if you previously tried to burn items to the disc but you stopped the burn before it was finished. Try inserting a writable disc that you have not previously used.

i think this is because one of the following reasons:

1. your cd-rw is not compatable with your cd-writer. try another cd-rw type.

2. may be you must erase your cd first, yes , it happen to me when i tryed to burn something on cd-rw

may be helpful

good bye
