I think it was Jesus...About a rich man showing worship to God and a poor beggar guy confessing his sin to God and something about how the beggar dude was better because he confessed he was a sinner. I dont think the rich dude confessed. I'm not sure. I remember it from a long time ago, but its a faint memory... I think I got the story right. I just want to know where I can find it in the bible. I would do a search but I dont know the exact words to put in. Thanks!!

Luke 18:13-14 "Publican" is the man who was a sinner. The pharisee sat there and said he was glad he wasn't a sinner, and was better than the honest publican...and understandably Jesus was unimpressed with that attitude.

Luke 18

9 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

It isn't the rich man and Lazareth. Let me see if I can find it.

Look up Luke 18:9-14. This tells about a Pharisee and a tax collector.

Sorry its not a parable its a real story of Lazures and the rich man. Luke 16:19-31
If its a parable its always says "this is a parable". This being a real story it say "There was a certain man".
Also parables never give names to the Characters in them.

Lazarus and the Rich Man...

Luke 16:19-31

19 Jesus said, "There was a certain rich man who was splendidly clothed and who lived each day in luxury. 20 At his door lay a diseased beggar named Lazarus. 21 As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man's table, the dogs would come and lick his open sores.

22 Finally, the beggar died and was carried by the angels to be with Abraham.

The rich man also died and was buried, 23 and his soul went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Lazarus in the far distance with Abraham.

24 "The rich man shouted, 'Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in anguish in these flames.' 25 "But Abraham said to him, 'Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish. 26 And besides, there is a great chasm separating us. Anyone who wanted to cross over to you from here is stopped at its edge, and no one there can cross over to us.'

27 "Then the rich man said, 'Please, Father Abraham, send him to my father's home. 28 For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them about this place of torment so they won't have to come here when they die.'

29 "But Abraham said, 'Moses and the prophets have warned them. Your brothers can read their writings anytime they want to.' 30 "The rich man replied, 'No, Father Abraham! But if someone is sent to them from the dead, then they will turn from their sins.' 31 "But Abraham said, 'If they won't listen to Moses and the prophets, they won't listen even if someone rises from the dead.'"

Cordially,
John

MATTHEW 19:16-28

JESUS SPEAKS TO THE RICH YOUNG MAN. TO THIS MAN SEEKING ASSURANCE OF ETERNAL LIFE. JESUS POINTED OUT THAT SALVATION DOES NOT COME FROM GOOD DEEDS UNACCOMPANIED BY THE LOVE OF GOD. THE YOUNG MAN NEEDED TO SUBMIT HUMBLY TO THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS. WHE JESUS TOLD THE YOUNG MAN TO SELL EVERYTHING HE OWNED, IT EXPOSED THE MANS WEAKNESS. IN REALITY THE YOUNG MAN WEALTH WAS HIS GOD AND HE WOULD NOT GIVE IT UP. THUS HE VIOLATED THE FIRST AND GREATEST COMMANDMENT. 19:24- BECAUSE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A CAMEL TO GET THROUGH THE EYE OF A NEEDLE, IT APPEARS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A RICH MAN TO ENTER INTO HEAVEN. JESUS DID EXPLAIN THOUGH, THAT WITH GOD, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. EVEN RICH PEOPLE CAN ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IF GOD BRINGS THEM IN. JESUS ASSURED THE DISCIPLES THAT ANYONE WHO GIVES UP SOMETHING VALUABLE FOR HIS NAME SAKE, THEY WILL BE REPAID MANY TIMES OVER IN THIS LIFE, THOUGH NOT NESSACAILY IN THE SAME FORM.
FOR EXAMPLE A PERSON MAY BE REJECTED BY THEIR OWN FAMILY IF THEY RECIEVE CHRIST , BUT HE OR SHE WILL GAIN A MUCH LARGER FAMILY OF BELIEVERS.

LUKE chapter 16 verse 19
What is really amazing about this is verse 26----those who are over there, and want to come over here, cannot----and those here, can't go over there?
Look's like some people on both side's want to switch sides. Still Learning.
