Does anyone else find it suspicious that for the second time in her short pro career she has been caught by cameras or spectators NOT assessing herself appropriate penalties?

For the second time (see quote below) she explained that its a good learning experience and then again reminded us she's only 16 - apparently old enough to get $10M from Nike, but not old enough to be expected to know the rules of golf. Hmm....

Michelle's quote:

Well, I knew I hit the moss, but I guess I knew the rule wrong," Wie said. "I always knew from the time I started playing golf that if you swing through it, it would be OK. I knew I hit the moss but I guess I knew the rule a little bit differently. "So it's a good learning experience. But I'm only 16."

Seems a little fishy eh? Never really thought of it that way though. I figured she really was a little uncertain of the rules more then anything.

I think she does nows the rules and hoped no one would notice. Thus, I guess she was not being honest therefore, she's a cheater!

I am sure you also have made a mistake on the course that you were not aware of. The only difference is that you didn't have a armchair rules official watching your everymove. The USGA rules are long and revised every year. There can be many interpetations to one rule. I think it is unfair that we expect so much out of this "girl". And before you say that because she decided to go pro she is open for this, I don't see anyone giving any other female golfer half the trouble she receives at 16. Golf is a game of honesty and respect, we all try our best. Let's give her some time and take all these expectations off of her. If she wins great and if not she is 16, she wasn't supposed to yet anyway.

You make a good point. Also, last year, she took an incorrect drop, and was disqualified. She needs to read up on the rules. If I went pro, I would have the rules book memorized from cover to cover, so I wouldn't do anything stupid.

Since she is an outstanding golfer, she has no need to cheat! So, no she is not a cheater!
