Go to annualcreditreport.com. Everyone is entitled to one free credit report per year by law and this is the web site to do it. Ive done it and it is completely legit. You can print up your credit score with any debts you owe. Plus it will show you who has been looking at your credit score (ie. credit card companies and loan companies). You will be suprised at who's looking. I picked Trans Union to do mine (youll see). Good luck.

You can't get your score for free.
You can get a free copy of your credit report at http://www.annualcreditreport.com but this does not include your credit score.
You are legally entitled to a free copy of your credit report once a year from each of the 3 major credit reporting agencies. There is no legal requirement for free access to your credit score, however.
Do NOT go to freecreditreport.com that advertises on TV! This is NOT the free report mandated by law. To get your report and score from them, you must sign up for their "credit monitoring" service which is NOT free. There is a short trial period on the service, but it is very difficult to cancel the service before you are billed for it! I fought for several months to get that off my credit card even though I followed their procedures to a 'T'.

Some employers check your credit history for you before they hire you on.
Go interview at one such place, and then find out!

The problem is if they ask for a ssn then I would be very leary. You need to go directly to Equifax, Trans Union, and Experian, and not to some entitiy that claims to represent them.

annualcreditreport.com appears to be only for US residents. Others would immediately get a "page not found" screen. At least, I do (Canada).
