how come a persons rights have to be taken in such a way, they deserve the right too protect their families, they should be able to register a fire arm with the local sheriff. Expecially if they pay TAXES!
they cherish their childrens life too.

Because the recidivism rate for ex-convicts is very high. Perhaps for certain groups of felons, like white-collar criminals or nonviolent offenders, it would be OK.

I think to continue their punishment for the rest of their life is not fair. I believe that a 7 year limit after release should be created and then they can get all their rights restored. I did something 25 years ago, and still have to suffer for it...and it's not fair. I raised a family with three kids, have 6 grand kids, and have been a model citizen, but I can't get my rights restored. It's not fair. I thought I did my time already, but it will never be over.

I think it should depend on the nature of the crimes they committed. As far as being rehabilitated, how does anyone really know if a person has changed?. I do think that if the felony didn't have anything to do with violence, then the person shouldn't be denied the right to own a weapon.
