We used Frontline on our 3 cats last week. The fleas were falling off dead within hours. However, now there are fleas on our cats that are still alive. Could the Frontline have worn off? How long does it take to get rid of fleas?

I haven't had much luck with Frontline. I tried it on my cats and dogs and it didn't seem to work as good as Advantage. Also..another thing you have to do is also treat the areas where your animals go...the house, the yard. Just treating the animals will not get rid of all the fleas. I use a yard treatment that can be purchased at Walmart. Also wash their bedding. If the flea problem is also in your house then use a good bug bomb although that takes a lot of work as you have to cover glass, electronics, all foods and dishes. Once you've got a good hold on the flea population then just treating the animals will work.

Frontline for cats will start working at killing fleas within a few minutes, and is supposed to last 30 days.
The liquid should be placed on the back of the cat's neck, just forward of it's shoulder blasdes, so the cat can't lick it off. If it rains and the cat gets very wet, you may have to reapply it.

I would do something to get rid of the fleas in the house as well, because if you don't they'll just come right back. you might want to try giving them a flea bath before you apply the frontline.

Advantage worked better for me. I tried Frontline, but I still had fleas! I gave it the full month to work so I wouldn't be overdosing my cats with anything and make them sick, but the Advantage took care of it.

Front-line usually become 100 percent effective after 48hrs. Advantage works much faster - 12-14hrs. and it stops fleas from biting within 5min.
