There is some other reasons other than bad hygiene, so I would suggest always giving gum and mints to the person!!

well, tell it to them matter-of-factly. but be sure to tell it to him/her in private. you wouldn't want her embarrased. it can be a serious case of halitosis. in which case, the better informed the person is, the sooner the person can do something about it :)
