Not all scratching is harmful.. just fanatical scratching or psychotic episodes.

Who said it's harmful? Simple scratching isn't harmful. Now if you take sandpaper and give your skin the once over that's different.

Scratching can tear up the skin, but when you have an itch, the only natural thing to do is scratch...can't help it...it's an involuntary reflex. =)

Coz it serves as a form of immediate relief whereas worrying about the bacteria on the nails and scars takes place much later.

because that flea is so painful you just want to scratch it off!!

That is caused by in "involuntary" reflex.. It is something that is as natural as blinking your eye(also an involuntary reflex)
