Hi April, see that you are 12 years old and that means that you have to wait unti your mom can take your dog to the vet.
The symptoms that you are describing can be caused by several illness....some minor and some more serious. On another post, you said that your dog's urine is strong.....that could indicate that she is dehydated. Is she drinking? Is she eating? Are her bowel movements normal? Any vomiting? What kind of dog? How old is your dog and is she current on her vaccinations. That are questions that would help diagnosing the cause of your dog's illness.
You've received a lot of information here....some helpful and some not accurate at all.
Also...some dogs react to pain a lot more severe that others....
The whining, tucked tail and the shivering could be caused by something as minor as her anal glands, but as serious as a spinal problem. ( and like one person said, constipation)
You said you gave her some breath treats....were they Greenies? I have personally seen several dogs experience problems with this treat. They do not digest well and can cause intestinal blockage.
The bottom line is that we can not correctly diagnose your dogs problem without some more basic information and she needs to see a vet...pronto.
Good luck with her. I can tell you love her, but right now she is at the mercy of your mom.

I've experienced back pain around the kidney area, and your urine will have a bad smell to it. Yes, antibiotics do work on kidney infections, but you need to get to a doctor right away, because the worse the infection, the harder, and longer it takes for the antibiotics to work. It usually starts with a bladder infection, and spreads to the kidneys via the ureter tubes. It is then called pylonephritis, which it is more often then not. It will also cause pain when you urinate, and you will have a frequent urge to urinate. There are a lot of white cells in the urine indicating an infection, and sometimes occult blood, which means blood not seen by the naked eye.
You will run a fever, and sometimes get nauseated as well. Diarrhea is often common.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
