You have heard it said, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder," and this is certainly true. Any definition of beauty must acknowledge that it is significantly different for different people. Still, some standards do seem to crop up:

Beauty is in good health. Instinct points us toward healthy as more attractive than unhealthy. The natural over the artificial.

Beauty is in symmetry and harmony. Asymmetrical things can be beautiful, but symmetry and balance -- harmony -- are instinctively prized.

Beauty is in graceful movement. Again, the instinct toward what is healthy, what functions well.

Beauty is in simplicity. Too much distraction, however exciting, is overwhelming and less beautiful than a serene whole, a restrained palate, an artful less-is-more. Pity the Victorians never figured this one out; they did many beautiful things, but put too many of them in the same room.

Beauty is in a smile, a welcoming gesture, a warm tone. That which displays love is intuitively more beautiful for that display.

Beauty is whatever you find wonderful to look at. You might not be able describe why something is beautiful, but inside you just know it is. You can't define beauty, but you can always tell when it is there.

It is what makes you feel good, just looking at it. The thing you see and are attracted to, often without being able to define, why. But you know.
A beautiful woman who, just looking at her, makes you hold your breath involuntarily, may even bring a tear to your eye.
Who as you observe her, makes you feel like you would do anything for her, even die if necessary.
That, my friends, is beauty.
Beauty being in the eyes of the beholder, is such a cliche. And though I may not be able to define what is beauty to YOU, I certainly can define, without doubt, what I find to be beautiful.

Beauty to me can be something simple, like cats. They are playful, affectionate, independant and have fur that is at times soft as silk. To me, cats are a reminder not to take life so seriously and to sit back and relax. Cats have the ability to make me stop and take notice in simple things that make life so great. And that to me is beauty.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
Beauty is defined by a person's experience. One does not have to be old or elderly to be wise in the knowledge of what beauty is.
It is whatever that person finds to be sacred and holds truth for them.
If one finds all life sacred and truthful, then everything will hold beauty and everything will be appreciated.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You can't define it.

Regina Reinhart, in body and soul.

I would define beauty as that which we love. And love itself (even if unrequited) is beautiful.

Sometimes extremely painful but beautiful!
