My dog refused to take antibiotics for his bladder stones. I tried all ways and just failed. Is there an injection for antibiotics rather than feeding him?
He is scheduled to go for an operation to remove the bladder stones in two weeks time. I am afraid that he will refuse all medicine for post operation.

Diet : I am sorry to say his diet is haphazard. As i am not at home most of the time my father feed him human snacks and dried dog food. And he is a fussy eater.

Is it liquid?
My dog usually ate dry food and we used to mix his worm medicine with canned dog food (which was a treat!) and he would just gobble everything right up!

First of all tell your dad he is not helping the matter. If you dog will eat dog treats then stuff the meds inside. Or use a little peanut butter, put the pill in a small amount in the palm of your hand and have him lick it off, or on your fingers, or a plastic spoon. Whatever works for you.
As for refusing, I have trouble with the cats sometimes, but I have never had a problem with a dog. Stand behind him, with your legs on each side. Put your left hand under his chin and pull his head up toward you. Use that hand to gently grab lower jaw and with the fingers of right hand, which you should have the pill between thumb and forefinger, pry mouth open and throw pill in and close his mouth and blow on his nostrils. That should make him swallow.
And yes, there are injectible antibiotics, but you have to get them from your vet and be instructed on how to use them. All I can say to that is good luck.
Just "get er done"

Ditto - i used to give my dog his medicine wrapped in abit of cheese, and he loved it.
If your dog isn't taking his oral medication even if you've tried all the methods, you might want to ask your vet for parenteral medication (non-oral) such as injections - like you suggested. Most antibiotics come in an injectable dose, but there are disadvantages too, like pain and side effects.
Post op, your vet will probably give him medication by an injection first, until he is able to stomach liquids and food, and he will slowly be able to take antibiotics orally.
All the best. If you're worried, its best to let your vet (the one who is doing the operation) know, so she/he can change the way the meds are given.
-all the best to your doggie.

Put his medicine in soft food. It works if your dog eats dry food every day. Becuase they love soft food so much when they get it they gobble it up real fast. That is always how my dog and cat got their medication.. If it is pill form you should crush it up and mix it in the soft food. That works really good. Just give them a little bit of food at first with the medicine in it, to ensure that all of the medication was eaten. If it is liquid i guess try the same thing. Let me know. Good Luck for you and your dog.

Yes they make most antibiotics in a injectible form.
Ask your vet about it.
Pills are the easiest with dogs as you can hide them in hotdogs or something. But if you ahve a small dog it may not work as they tend to pick things apart before eating. My big dogs just swallow things whole.

Well either stick it in food as everyone suggests tho with my dog i could not give him just one piece of cheese i had to give him a few first so he thought it was just a treat and then slip it in one in the middle of treat time but he still would find it sometimes... eventually I just had to open his mouth with one hand and stick it right to the back of his throat.. he wont like it but it is better than he being sick right! and after your done give him a treat and a hug and he will forget all about it!

You could try putting them in his food so he wont notice them...when we give dogs medicine we pretty much just have to hold them down and put the pill to the back of their throat it is the only way they are going to take the pills no dog will ever take medicine voluntarily...if you use that method make sure to cuddle him and give him some sort of treat afterwards.

Depending on how large the pills are, what I used to do with my dog is put the pill in a little peanut butter. I only used just enough to cover the pill. It is is larger, you may want to crush it up a bit. They are attracted to the smell and once they get it in their mouth, it is sticky and they don't spit it out. Worked like a charm. Plus that little amount of peanut butter won't hurt them.

If you can get the pill form, hold his mouth open with one hand, and put the pull to the back of his mouth with the other hand.
If that doesn't work, they should be able to give you the injectable form of the med.
Ask the vet.

My dog got wise to all the tricks for taking medicine too. Then we got liquid form, one person held open her mouth, one person shot it down with a syringe. Sounds mean, but it was the only way to give it to her. Sometimes dogs are too smart for their own good.
